I was always hoping Locarno might appear on a show one day and get a redemption arc, but I guess it was not to be. Still a good episode if a bit predicable. 9/10

I mean, the Maquis WEREN'T given second chances. The crew of the Voyager were the only Maquis not slaughtered aside from Ensign Ro as far as we know.
Sisko saved a whole cell of maquis, about a dozen people, with the aid of Eddington. in "Blaze of glory". which takes place in the middle of the Jem'Hadar's purge of the maquis. and we know the maquis had agents in federation space acting in their interests, like Sakonna in 'the maquis", who likely would have been safe from the Dominion. only those in cardassian space or the DMZ would be in danger. and even then, there would be a chance for some cells to escape the purge if they fled to federation space immediately. they'd face some jailtime for their past actions, but that's better than death.
we also don't know how the dominion handled the colony worlds which the maquis were fighting for. outright genocide of entire worlds is the sort of thing that would get mentioned, so it seems liekly their purge was a targeted one. that they only killed the known maquis, and any apparent civilians were just put under very repressive occupation.

I feel like this very much undermines both the Dominion as well as the role of the Maquis in the story. Especially as I think it was Sisko himself who says the only surviving Maquis members were the people in Federation custody and prisons. I also think its safe to say the Maquis worlds were exterminated of their entire populations. The Dominion showing their ruthlessness and why the Cardassians would side with them.

But that's because I think it's important to understand Sisko's anger and frustration. The Maquis were not the plucky heroes out to defeat an Evil Empire. They were a people who thought they were and got everyone they loved killed.

Looking forward to Tendi’s Mistress of the Winter Constellations arc.

And just pointing out how silly that title is.
It’s of course a reference to the Orion constellation as seen from Earth and actually being a winter constellation for half the planet.

So why that title in-universe on the show?
Mistress of the Winter Constellations could refer to a seasonal title?
Only being in power during a specific time of the year? Which is an interesting concept.
Is there a Mistress of the summer constellations?
Does she have authority over a number of Star systems that make up winter constellations?

I want to know!

Finally see the finale, this episode was so great, it really had everything we needed in it, from the laughs to the action to the character moments.

I’m sure Robert Duncan had a ball in playing the bad guy. The discussion about Nick having the same face as Tom was really hilarious.

I’m confused on where the ship mariner steaks came from, though. Also: Starfleet officers are supposed to say their security codes put loud and they’re not even linked to their voiceprint anymore?!

And this episode finally put a rest to the old debate “was the genesis planet built using the material from the nebula”.

A rare 10. The wait for season 5 will be long.

By the way, where did that enormous trinar shiel come from and am I the only one to be reminded of the Q?
