I liked the bonding we got with Mariner and Freeman. They are kind of alike, both have very revealing egos. Durango the Tellerite was fun, and I really liked that we got a bit of a sci fi plot this week. The terraforming effects eating up the ship was really well done. I'm not sure how I felt about the Tendi storyline. I guess she and Rutherford are not destined to be a couple, unlike what we saw in the first episode. They do make a fun team though.
You could cut Rutherford out of the show and not miss a beat. He never has anything of value to contribute and he has almost no personality whatsoever.
It's a total waste of a series regular.
What's it gonna take to get some Queer representation on this show? I guess I should expect this sort of thing from huge TNG fans where vaguely alluding to a gender issue was so amazing to them. It's a little disappointing, and with Boimler's girlfriend being a major plot point for next week, the heteronormativity seems here to stay. Boo!.
how would you describe Geordi after the first 4 episodes of TNG, personality wise? Or Worf? You could cut Rutherford out of the show and not miss a beat. He never has anything of value to contribute and he has almost no personality whatsoever.

Four episodes in. Nah, I’m going to wait a bit before writing him off. I’m sure he will get episodes. Like Tendi did today.
"Whataboutisms" aren't actually a good argument for why it's okay when something is bad.
Rutherford led the B-stories in the first two episodes, this week it was Tendi's time (and would it have not been Tendi's time, we certainly would have the same complaints about her) and to be honest, right now, I know more about Rutherford than I knew about Worf until 'Heart of Glory'. In way less screentime.Geordi was always a boring character. That doesn't make it okay. That's no excuse for giving us a character with no point and no personality.
TV is different now, it's much more competitive and there are much shorter seasons. "Whataboutisms" aren't actually a good argument for why it's okay when something is bad.
I think I saw two gay men in Envoys during the Risa part...
I know Trek was late to the table, fár too late.... But I think since Sulu in Beyond, to Stamets and Culber, to Tig, to Seven and Raffi, Trek is making true efforts..! You can bet on it LDS will not leave this out..!Yes, I saw two guys looking at each other. It's not really representation of a particularly notable quality in 2020. Easily edited out. This is Star Trek, not Star Wars. Where's my Culber at?
He should be interesting and distinct even when he's not the focus of a story. So far, he's not. Like, even a tiny bit.
