News Star Trek: Discovery Will Be PG-13 Plus

I got into star trek when I was a kid 35 years ago. I loved ST:TWOK. There wasn't any sex but there was a lot of violence. I hope STD follows that blueprint. Not necessarily glorifing violence but enough for realism. Nudity in Star trek doesn't jive with me. Maybe a little if the story benefits from it but not gratuitous.

Surprising post from someone calling themselves the "Luvmaster."

I think West world and game of thrones are awesome shows. If STD can pull off that kind of quality tv I'll get over my nostalgia of TWOK.

Aren't "Family Shows" more edgy than they use to be? When people talk about wanting Trek to be family friendly are they looking at it compared to modern shows or shows of the past? Also am I the only one who liked watching stuff you weren't suspose to when you were a kid? I watched things like "The Shinning" and "Aliens" when I was younger. DIdn't have much tv show options because this was pre-HBO/cable or at least in terms of what they are like today when it comes to tv shows. I think this idea that kids are going to be damaged because of gore, nudity or foul language isn't acurate.

Ahh the age old argument...

Sex doesn't belong in Trek but pointy shooty, ear worm torture and hung corpses are all A-OK
^^^^
Anyone who says "Sex doesn't belong in Trek" never really watched (or paid attention to what was on the screen) TOS (IMO). Some of those female costumes were only held in place by LOTS of spirit gum. ;)

Plus Kirk getting his shirt ripped - or parading shirtless happened a number of times on TOS.

What are you talking about? They clearly wore the most high tech of apparel with the highest stats possible, while covering 50% or less of the body. That's just logic-see Dungeons and Dragons for other examples.

Secondarily, TOS often countered on the censors not paying attention ;)
