Section 31 Star Map

Arpy

Has the star map from Section 31 been discussed yet here -- consistencies, inconsistencies, esthetics, etc -- anyone posted a screenshot?

How are we feeling about the Minosians from TNG's "Arsenal of Freedom" being from "Chain of Command"'s Minos Korva?

Here’s a look at the starcharts as they are shown in the opening sequence of the movie, stitched together from a number of screenshots provided by @Jag2112 here

I think they probably meant for the “Demilitarized Zone” on the map to be the one between Cardassian and Federation space. But there’s actually nothing prohibiting this from being any other demilitarized zone that existed at that time. Actually it would make more sense if it’s another demilitarized zone entirely, because as far as I’m aware the Badlands were actually located inside the zone, but this map draws them as separate entities.

There's more zoomed out version of the map showing the entire width of the federaion, but it's not really legible. Unless there's 4k version of the movie somewhere

The map is nearly identical to ones we've seen in SNW, just with symbols from that era replaced with ones from the late 23rd and early 24th Century. There's also no DMZ

Timothy Peel and his team did the graphics for SNW, S31 and Discovery so there is overlap.

I liked seeing Fesarius, Izar and Gideon on there, but there are starbases located outside Federation space?
Deep Space 9 was a Federation star base located outside of Federation space, so that's hardly outrageous or unprecedented. Not going to condemn it here when Star Trek has done it before. It's just not a thing.

DS9 was originally a Cardassian station, wasn't it? The map above is naming them as "Starbase", a nomenclature generally used by Starfleet (as well as using Starfleet emblems to denote them).

DS9 was referred to as "Starbase Deep Space nine" more than once on the show. And why shouldn't the Federation have bases outside its borders? The United States has bases outside of its borders and so do other countries.

Timothy Peel posted somewhere a S31 Database page of the Baraam that said it was in the Crescent Nebula, but in the opening animated map it's nowhere near the Crescent Nebula (which is visible on the map) So good thing it didn't show up in the movie (I think?)

I was just looking at it last night, I'm part way through the movie. This is probably the most detailed canon map we've seen, even more than the SNW map. I know the 2D effect makes a difference, but aside from that here are things that stand out:

-"Fesarius" exists, but in Ferengi space?
-Ferengi space in general seems bigger than the Cardassians
-Free Haven is in Tzenkethi space
-There's something next to the Tzenkethi, with a planet called "Orean" or something. Is that supposed to be the Orions?

Edit: Looking at the map here, it looks like that might just be the shaded boundaries of the Cardassians. I assume the Purple on the other side of the Ferengi are the Breen?

They remembered to take Ferenginar off the map, because the Federation wasn't aware of the Ferengi at this point, so I guess that coloured area around their homeworld could mean anything.
