More time travel?

*shakes head*

That's how I felt in the 1990s when they reached the 50000000th 40th way to do time travel...

https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Time_travel

The Orb of Time, which also flits them halfway across space as well as a century is a hoot. At least the story, once they get there, is actually great. The same thing would dilute the mirror universe as DS9 would start going over there as casually as anyone goes to the grocery store.

Also, the Cerritos is clearly being refitted/repaired there (likely after their stunt to save Gomez's ship in the S2 finale), hence minimal crew complement. So, if she's drydocked, the crew have likely been put off AT the drydock or nearby. Hence she's the closest ship that they know has very few (if any) personnel aboard.

In reality, of course, the chances the Enterprise would have been completely abandoned in TSfS would be remote, even if Starfleet were planning to mothball her.

In even more reality though, in these sorts of stories it's always the case that the heroes steal their own ship (unless they need a ship to chase down someone who stole their ship).

DS9 kept defiant empty when Tom Riker and Kira went on board. OBrien was working near to it (like Scotty was working on the Enterprise in TSFS). It seems that with monitoring of an empty starship at a starbase just as easy from the starbase as from the ship, there's no need to have anyone on board, just like you don't keep someone on board a shuttle or runabout

The Defiant didn't have a permanent crew, though. In that way it was treated more like a shuttlecraft than a traditional starship.

I am going to bet real money that the 1st episode will be about their elaborate plan to steal the Cerritos, they do, and find Freeman was cleared of all charges.

The Ensigns are going to have a huge elaborate plan with multiple stages, I.E. Search for Spock. They then get to the bridge and find the other senior officers already on board and they simply request to take the ship out on a shakedown cruise. Starbase doesn't care because California class.

Of course the way Lower Decks works this could all just be a literal tease and instead of any arc or great adventure to free Captain Freeman it's resolved very quickly and with a funny twist solution, just like Boimler's promotion in the Season 1 finale :-P
And it would be glorious!

Do we have a date yet?

Loved the S2 Finale and am eagerly awaiting S3 of LD.

Am loving SNW and am heading off to rewatch Ep 1-3.

Also liked PROD more than I thought and thought the mid-season finale was really well done. Eagerly awaiting resumption.

Did not love DISCO S4 or PIC S2, though I think the Finales were much better this time around. Really, the middle was poor for both start & finish pretty darn good.

From 1966 to 2005 we had 6 Star Trek TV shows.

1. TOS. 1966-'69. 3 seasons. 79/80 eps.
---9/8/66 to 6/3/69.
2. TAS. 1973-'74. 2 seasons. 22 episodes.
---9/8/73 to 10/12/74.
3. TNG. 1987-'94. 7 seasons. 178 episodes.
---9/28/87 to 5/23/94
4. DS9. 1993-'99. 7 seasons. 176 episodes.
---1/3/93 to 6/2/99.
5. VOY. 1995-'01. 7 seasons. 172 episodes.
---1/16/95 to 5/23/01.
6. ENT. 2001-'05. 4 seasons. 98 episodes.
---9/26/01 to 5/13/05.

That's 30 seasons and 726 episodes spanning 25 different years. With several years with 2 series going simultaneously (TNG/DS9, DS9/VOY).

We now have 5 series going at the same time.

1. DISCO. 4 seasons. 55 episodes.
---9/24/17 to now. 5th season coming.
2. Short Treks. 2 seasons. 10 episodes.
3. PIC. 2 seasons. 20 episodes.
---1/23/20 to now. 3rd & final season coming.
4. LD. 2 seasons. 20 episodes.
---8/6/20 to now. S3 coming.
5. PROD. 1 season. 10 episodes.
6. SNW. 1 season. 3 episodes.

That totals out to 12 seasons (2 ongoing) with 118 episodes aired. With 7 more SNW and 10 more PRO episodes in their seasons, it will push the episode total to 135.

LD has at least 2 more seasons coming (+20). PIC has one (+10). SNW has at least one more (+10). As does DISCO (+10). If S2 of PRO also has 20 episodes, streaming Trek will top 200 episodes next year and bring the Trek total to 930 or so. Within shouting distance of 1,000 episodes of TV. Amazing.
