Pike Character Teaser

So Pike told Spock all about his vision? That means Spock and Pike had years to plan out Menagerie. The entire premise of that episode is now severely rewritten even more than it already was after Discovery.

Awesome!

I’m absolutely thrilled to have Pike in the captain’s seat.

Anson Mount continues to convey a cool confidence, and calm, collected kindness as the contemplative and compassionate cowboy captain of our Constitution Class, Christopher Pike.

How was it severely rewritten? We don't even know what transpired between the years of The Cage to Menagerie to lead Spock to actually go with this plan, besides Pike getting disabled. SNW is going to try and fill in those LOST YEARS to give us more backstory.

Chapel teaser pt 2? The shape on the wall looks very similar, just flipped vertically.

If anything both Discovery and this show better explains how and why Spock was able to get ahold of the keeper, because in "The Cage", Spock himself had no contact at all with the Talosians. So if anything this fixes the massive plot holes that were in "The Menagerie" when it originally aired on NBC. :)

Because we now know Spock and Pike knew this was coming for years and it breaks all logic that Pike didn't retire from Starfleet or something to avert the vision. Starfleet is not the only way to serve the Federation. Pike could go into diplomacy, become a governor, etc.

He literally was contemplating becoming an Orion slaver in the Cage over less

One remembers and plans. The other does not. Vulcan stoicism accounts for the rest.

In "The Menagerie," the first thing Spock says to Pike when they're alone together is, "You know why I've come, Captain."

That indicates that they've already discussed his going to Talos IV. Given that Pike could not communicate except by beeping yes or no after the accident on the cadet vessel, how exactly would they have discussed his going to Talos IV after the accident? It actually fits "The Menagerie" better, if they had had some discussion pertaining to this before the accident.

So this rewrites the premise of "The Menagerie" how, exactly?

Also, I do not believe it is a spoiler to discuss the new trailer as it pertains to an episode aired in 1966. Ditto for an episode of DISCO season 2.

Because if he told Spock, why stop there? Why not tell Starfleet Command, Starfleet Medical, etc.? At that point, there's just no way they'd let Pike be assigned to a training vessel after his vision is described to them.

Can you say, "death penalty?" That was right there in "The Menagerie," too.

You seem to be a little shaky on what actually happens in "The Menagerie." Pike wasn't assigned to the cadet vessel. It was an "inspection tour."

Maybe he's familiar with classic Greek literature?

Or maybe he just reads Maugham.

Time is a fickle mistress.

All about it? Maybe. Rewritten? No.

It's pretty obvious that Pike didn't include that little tidbit in his ships mission report, so why would he suddenly tell anybody in Star Fleet now.

Starfleet Command? Starfleet Medical? Why tell it to people who would urge him to get Psychiatric help? I don't think Pike would put much trust in them believing him, or really giving a rats butt. Pike is paying a price for that Time Crystal, it's a price that horrifies him, but he has his own belief system, and sense of honor, and probably stuck in his ways, he will pay in full for that Time Crystal

but of course, that's just my opinion
