however i guess discovery needed to squeeze that in for season 2 to keep fans watching since the red angel story line was pretty thin, however i am sure they never thought pike will be become a fan favourite that he will get his own series.

what a shame , since SNW is meant to be a prequel to TOS, so there is no chance he will escape such a fate.

they really should have left it out of discovery.

No. The writers forcing Pike to deal with the inevitability of his fate, with the ticking clock of knowing he will be ravaged by radiation, of knowing that he could escape that fate but only at the cost of numerous people dying -- this is a fascinating internal conflict that will make Pike a more interesting character. This is an actively good decision.

I'm glad we're getting the classic sound effect, or pretty darn close to it.

When ENT premiered in 2001 one of its selling points was that it would be a return to classic Star Trek fisticuffs. Well, most of the fists seemed to be connecting with Archer's chin but SNW looks like it's going to embrace some of that old TOS action aesthetic. I can't wait.

Nitpick: I don't like that they keep calling the ship "Enterprise" instead of "the Enterprise."

"Enterprise" was the NX-01.

"The Enterprise" is every Federation ship with the name that followed. But that's just me.

I agree with Mount that Pike is the captain that we know least about. However, I think there might be too much flexibility there.

"The Enterprise" is every Federation ship with the name that followed. But that's just me.

It should be without the definite article.
