Spoilers Paris Rank Question

Does anyone remembered that happened to Tuvok?:rommie:

As long as we're talking dire fates...
Tom: What Jayson said.
Tuvok: Mind meld failed, mental deterioration continued. Spent last 50 years drooling in his plomeek soup.
Harry: Career ruined by 7 years of ensignhood. Wound up flying a garbage scow.
Janeway: Starfleet found out about Tuvix and majorly demoted her. She wound up working on the garbage scow. Under Harry Kim's command.
Chakotay: Someone found out that his spirit animal was a slug. He went into permanent isolation out of shame.
Neelix: Asteroid shield had antimatter containment failure. Asteroid colony go boom.
B'Elanna: Massive stroke from incompatibility in Klingon and human DNA. Dead before she hit the ground.
EMH: Cascade failure in mobile emitter. Bzzzt, and he's gone.

Tom may have taken a few years leave from Starfleet to focus on helping raise Miral?

Yeah, that was my initial thought too. I got the impression that by the end of VOY, Paris was happy, stable, and ready to slow down. My "headcanon" had him leaving Starfleet to concentrate on parenthood and working on his hobbies (like designing and fixing ships).

Endgame:
KIM: Don't you want to find a way home?
PARIS: I am home, Harry.
(Paris enters a turbolift. Kim stops the doors closing.)
KIM: Captain Proton would never walk away from a mission like this.
PARIS: Captain Proton doesn't have a wife, and a baby on the way.

LD decided to keep him in the fleet and that's cool! As others have said, it has only been a couple of years since his last promotion and he does, indeed, have a complicated history.

If we are doing dire fates here is mine. Janeway is promoted to Admiral. Paris and Torres and their child are living together happily. Chocatay has helped rebuild some of the communities that were destroyed by the Cardissians and Dominion. Seven and EMH are living the life of celebrities. Kim has been promoted. Tuvok is spending time with his wife and children. But one day while doing research the EMH has discovered a horrible truth. The Borg transwarp corridor they used to get home actually made the ship go warp 10. Soon all the human crew including Torres start to evolve. Within 24 hours they have all become salamanders. Tuvok and the EMH is all that is left. Well Neelix as well but he is in the DQ. They decide they can't just let them be part of the eco-system so they decide to each take their share of salamander crew with them and basically take good care of them almost like pets. The crew live out the rest of their lives as pet salamanders.

Gobbles the rest of the crew up like burritos. By the time the EMH is able to de-salamanderize the crew with antiproton therapy, all that remains is a somewhat larger B'Elanna.

Then a door opens up and out walks a man in a cloak before revealing his face. It's Carrey.. He was behind it all. Angry for Janeway not coming back to save his life. In the afterlife though Mephisto offered to return him to the land of the living to do anything he wants. His only demand is his eternal soul. So he arranged behind the scenes Janeway from the future coming back to the past and fixing it so they would eventually go through the warp 10 Borg wormhole. Then everything else taking place after.

Tom is just marketing his books. Is he even in active service? Kirk got to wear the full uniform and be addressed by the rank while retired, just as per today's practice.

What I wonder is how Tom got to be a full Lieutenant initially, getting his two full pieces of silver for his "Caretaker" betrayal. Supposedly, this was Starfleet either restoring his pre-New Zealand rank or then promoting him at most one step.

I have no problem thinking he got demoted soon thereafter: Janeway is just the type, apparently ripping half a pip off the collar of his pal Tuvok, too. But if his two full pips are merely what he would have gotten back in 2371 already anyway, all the worse for him.

Pretty sure that was just sloppiness. Tuvok was wearing LCDR rank for several episodes, but still addressed as "Lieutenant".

Maybe the reason there was no "Nitpicker's Guide to Voyager" is that the book would have been three inches thick.

Indeed, the early season 1 episodes of Voyager, both Tom and B'Elanna wore the rank insignia of Full Lieutenant and Tuvok wore Lt Commander's, despite the fact he was supposed to be a Lieutenant as stated in dialogue and the opening credits. When they finally got around to correcting Tuvok's rank insignia, the decision was made to change Tom and B'Elanna to LT JG in order to show Tuvok had seniority over them.

They just happened to always be eaten lots of corn and finding corn kernnel's on their uniforms.
