Paramount working on DS9 HD?

I wonder if this is in response to all the Trek shows they are ending or cancelling. They have to make money off of Trek somehow. And I guess it’s cheaper to remaster a 30 year old show and hope the sheep will buy the Blu-rays than produce a new one.

I myself hope they will remaster all the battle scenes to remove all the old Excelsiors, Mirandas, K’T’ingas and BoPs and replace them with newer designs. But something tells me that’s not on their radar.

I'd just as soon they didn't edit which ships appeared in the battle scenes. But whatever they do or don't do with the show, I hope they release it in less flimsy cases than the DVDs. (Maybe a Steelcase edition?)

I was hoping for similar on TOS remaster, did they have to keep every ship a Connie when there are "only 12 like it in the fleet"? They must be very concentrated then.

Risks upsetting the purists I guess.

I don't have a problem with the old ships, but they do need to add in Ambassadors at the very least. I'm on the fence about adding contemporary designs that hadn't been invented yet, like the California and Parliament Classes

Hope they completely redo the battles from 'What you Leave behind" and give something that wasn't pieced together from other episodes.

That would be nice

I think anything that was fully CGI, like the big battles in the last couple of seasons, is going to be at the mercy of what digital models they still have available and can be upscaled.

Anything that featured a physical model is probably not going to be changed.
I wonder who has all the higher detail CG models Eaglemoss has had made over the years.

Picard Season 2 used their Steamrunner model.

I might sound biased, but I would have preferred much less of TOS-R changing things the way they did. I would rather they had just mimicked what TOS original showed, but in CGI/HD format.

The shots of the physical models do not need to be replaced. Only the CGI ships from "Sacrifice of Angels" onward. (And I think the Bajoran solar sailer was a CGI model too; that would need to be replaced.)

Actually the biggest CGI use was whenever Odo morphed, and when the wormhole opens and closes. Every single instance would need to be replaced.

I would prefer that they made entirely new designs. But that's just me. And I doubt they will put that kind of effort into this project.

If they do it, I just hope they do a good job with a light touch... not use revisionist special effects to change the art as it aired originally.
I'd still like to see a few newer / more varied ships in it.

It doesn't have to be overdone. Some ships would be enough. Maybe even just a few.

I have no issue with the idea of outdated designs being pressed into combat duty in a time of war.

IF this is really happening (and I refuse to get excited just yet) I'd hope that almost everything stays approximately the same. The TNG approach was mostly perfect, respectful recreations with the occasional "touch-ups".

The one thing that would be cool is if after all these years Terry would allow them to put a few shots of Jadzia in the finale montage. Edit: ...And maybe switch out the couple of shots of Worf and Jake that should not be remembered due to erased timelines and memory loss, etc. ;)
