Ortegas Character Teaser

Seeing Batman casually use a gun still feels weird and contrary to what we know about the character though.
I guess I have read so much Batman is doesn't feel as contrary to me.
The other ones are called "pulse rifles". Because they fire pulses.
Ok. I get it, sort of. But, more I think of it like a Band-Aid situation. Band-Aid is technically a brand name but everyone calls bandages Band-Aids. Phasers are one specific type of weapon, but they get all lumped together.

That's me though. I am that weird guy who thinks beams look terrible.

We know the E has beam capable phasers. So what if they do more pew-pew type beams in other scenes?

And I'm in the camp that says "Tholian ships" updated to the DSC aesthetic.

Phaser beams look dorky as fuck. As does "beaming". Or square, boxy space shuttles. Or ships with saucers. Or bright t-shirt uniforms.

It's the opposite of whatever "cool" is supposed to look like.
And that's why I love it to death.

Exactly.

And just as a general remark, I'd expect that there are times when it's far more energy-efficient to fire in pulses, including some situations when there's no target lock and most of your shots are going to be wasted anyway, the exact scenarios in "Balance of Terror" and "Errand of Mercy."

Maybe a pulse has more built up energy than the continuous beam? Like setting off a fully charged capacitor.

If there's one thing for sure, we don't know how any of this works! But, sure. :techman:

I was speaking in terms of expected damage to the enemy per megawatt expended on your power grid or whatever.

One of these things are more dorkier than others.

If that ship is tholian.. If just ask.. Why?? Yes you can update a thing, but should you? If it was the 25th century and everything new? Sure have at it.. But your doing a prequal.. That means your hemmed in a bit.. You want freedom.. Go play somewhere else in the sand box.

K.. Let me clarify..
Update it to look not like a plywood set or add detail to ships.. Yes. But to say.. This is a tholian ship.. When it looks nothing like anything in any other show? No. Now a cavate of.. If they have the old ships flying around as well and this is a bigger ship? Okay.
It's like the klingin ships in disco S1 .. Unless you told me id never guess there klingon.

How many other ships of the Tholians have we seen on screen? Truly can't remember and I am super curious.

The original TOS ship, the TOS-R ship that replaced the former ship, and the ENT ship. They all shared the same design motif.

Done some designs awhile back.. keeping the tri craft.. :)
