Orphan Black - Season 2 Discussion

Dr. Leekie did live up to his name. I'm trying to remember though does the episode confirm that he was shot dead in the head? I mean that was certainly the impression but was there anyway Donnie hit his shoulder or something?

There was far too much gore for that. And far too little screaming in agony.

EDIT: I saw a clip of it (actually an animated GIF in io9's review), and you can definitely see Leekie's head hitting the windshield and sliding down, and though it's out of focus, there's definitely a big red hole in the back or side of his head.

Exploded and leaked.

Here's the funny bit.

Dyad was going to kill him, and had known for hours that they were going to kill him.

Steps would have already been taken to make the hit invisible.

By the time Donnie shot Aldous Leekie, it's more than possible that he already did not exist as a person. All physical and electronic evidence of his existence might have been gone, therefore how could Donnie have ever killed someone that doesn't exist?

Have you ever read a comic book called 100 bullets?

Similar concept.

I watched this again and it worked better for me on second viewing though Donnie's ineptitude and stupidity is pretty amazing. Though it does help sell why he can't see the difference between his wife and Sarah's makeup and hair.

Speaking of that, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't recognize Michelle Forbes until it was mentioned in this thread.

The rehab parts were entertaining (with Sarah's confused double-role-playing being my favorite part of the episode) but it felt to me like they were trying a bit too hard to recapture Variations Under Domestication's magic.

I wish we saw Rachel's conversation with Duncan. Her talk with Leekie and her giving him a chance to escape were my second favorite part of the episode. That was some interesting understated acting from Tatiana.

Boo, no Helena. I hope they tie the Proleteans back into the Dyad storyline somehow, they feel too separated at this point, like two different shows in one.

I get this sense that that will be the main course for a possible season three. Season 1 was about introducing the clones, season 2 is showing the big picture and why there was this experiment, and season three is the battle of wits between the prolithians and Dyad. The writers did say they had a 3 year plan at the start of the show.

Now we just need the show to get renewed for a third season.

And the writers have come out and said that everything in season 2 has been very separate but the clones will come together again before the end of the season.

Should I be worried that they haven't announced season 3 yet. I do know the ratings are low, but the DVR numbers are not and it is a joint production. This series is BBC Americas second major success after Doctor Who.

I think the ratings are better than last season's, are they not? That plus all the positive buzz plus the critical acclaim, I hope it's enough for a third season.

Yeah they are. I was starting to worry and someone else online posted a wiki article that shows the ratings are actually up verse last year.

Plus one actress plays 9 different characters, saves a ton on money. :)

It's surreal watching "Mrs. S" singing on Youtube. I didn't know she was a singer.

She was in a film called the Commitments playing a singer. Though her singing career came first.

Depends..not if she gets paid per character! (she'd deserve it ) :bolian:

I really want her to be nominated for an Emmy so they can just list all the characters. :)

I just realized we haven't had some Felix butt in awhile, very sad.

Better yet, she should get nominated separately for each role!

I was hoping that would happen last year. You can nominate her for best actress for Sarah, and then best supporting actress for Alison. Of course this year, I would nominate her for either Helena or Rachel but still, this show is quite unique because of her.

Is it an American show? BBC America made it in Canada... Besides, according to the wiki you have to broadcast into at least %50 of America to be eligible for an Emmy, which rules out most Cable shows just because the poverty line is where it is.

The Orphan Black Wiki said that Tatiana won a Ewwy for best actress last year.

Kinda the same thing?

They also won a Golden Globe. :)
