I was just reminded of this "throw back" trailer for Star Trek VI...

...and what a kick I got out of seeing TOS imagery on the big screen, in a "current" theater setting, meaning not a special screening of an episode for fans, but a general interest, wide-audience situation. And there was good old TOS, right out in public.

There are other cases where Original Series scenes or material made it to silver screen. Let's see if we can name them.

Jeez, what an utterly fantastic trailer. Just awesome.

And does Denzel's speech about Kirk and Scotty in Crimson Tide count?

Okay, this has really produced more info than I was expecting. Here's our list so far, plus the one thing I had in mind that no one has mentioned yet, "Amok Time" fight music in The Cable Guy:

- Taps (1981) - military school boys watching Spock's Brain on TV.
- Airplane II: The Sequel (1982) - Enterprise seen in periscope.
- Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (1991) - watching Arena on TV.
- Wayne's World (1992) - Garth whistles the Star Trek TV theme.
- Boomerang (1992) - Eddie Murphie watches The Omega Glory on TV.
- Coneheads (1993) - Airman watches Arena on TV.
- Houseguest (1995) - Sinbad channel surfs past the Uhura-Sulu slap in Mirror Mirror.
- Crimson Tide (1995) - Denzel Washington tells crewman to fix submarine's radio like Scotty.
- The Cable Guy (1996) - Amok Time fight music.
- Tropic Thunder (2008) - Ben Stiller watches Arena on cell phone.
- Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) - Amok Time on TV.
- Paul (2011) - brief glimpse of Balok head and scene of Arena on a TV set behind it at a sci-fi convention.
- X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - The Naked Time on TV.
- X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) - clip of Who Mourns for Adonais?

Ok not the original series filming but an actor playing his role years later in a motion picture cameo

So did I. I think there were about four people in the audience.

There were only 3 people in the audience, and also this guy was in the very back row.
