NFL Offseason 2011 - The Longest Yard?

Nnamdi Asomugha to the Philadelphia Eagles! Philly seemingly came out of nowhere when it was the Jets and the Cowboys right to the end.

I'm just glad he's not going to the Jets.

I, for one, welcome our new Eagle overlords. They should have a huge year if everyone stays healthy and they keep the head cases to a minimum.

If he gets his head screwed on straight, he completely outclasses everyone in the Bears' receiving corps. That's a big "if" though.

The homeless guys who sleep outside Soldier Field and get loaded on Mad Dog 20/20 every day outclass everyone in the Bears' receiving corps.

Vince Young signed to back-up Vick.

Problem there is, Vick really seems to have learned a lesson, I'm not sure Young ever will.

I think I'd have preferred the Bears try to get Plaxico, but whatever.

Also, Danieal Manning signs with Texas. One less decent DB for opposing QB's to worry about.

So... the Eagles have won the offseason Super Bowl.

I'm confused though, usually it's the Vikings

Zygi Wilf and Leslie Frazier haven't driven their dump truck filled with $30 million to Brett Favre's lawn yet.

They signed McNabb, right? He'll do better for the Vikings than he did for the Redskins (if that's saying anything).

I guess the Eagles are becoming the Andy Reid home for wayward Quarterbacks. Hopefully Young will do well in his rehab here.

John Clayton is reporting that the salary floor (the requirement of teams to spend at least 89% of the cap) won't go into effect until 2013, because otherwise the Bengals and Bills would have voted against ratification of the new CBA (and Goodell shit a brick when he learned the Raiders were going to abstain, but he ultimately swallowed it because all the other votes were in favor).

Double posting because the Bears have signed legendary running back Marion Barber for two years at $2.5m/year.

I'm guessing Chester Taylor's days are numbered, since his $7 million salary is just a million more than Brandon Manumaleuna's, who was cut following the Olsen trade. ()

In other NFL news, the Eagles now hold two 2s, two 4s, two 5s and two 6s in the 2012 draft. Holy shit.

Of course with Sidney Rice gone, McNabb doesn't have much in the way of receivers to throw to. And unless the Viking's front line improves, McNabb could be spending a lot of time pulling turf off his face.

Bears cut center Olin Kreutz. He wanted $4.5 mil but was only offered $4 mil.

And they've replaced him with Chris Spencer. Even Seattle didn't want him. Think about that.

Fuck my life. Somehow, Angelo has managed to make the O-line AND the receiving targets worse than they were last year. Did Cutler shoot his dog or something?

Christ, Cutler's going to be on a liquid diet by Week 6.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a Cutler fan and that I do get some warm-fuzzies when he struggles. But with that said, I feel bad for the guy. Chicago gave up a lot to get him, and then they've consistantly done everything they can think of to make sure he doesn't survive long enough to retire.

It's incredible. Between the first-rounders they coughed up, plus Orton, plus signing Cutler to an extension, the team did just about everything possible to tell the world, "This dude right here, this Cutler, is our guy."

And since then they've done everything possible to get him killed, between hiring Martz over Jeremy Bates, allowing the O-line to have the effectiveness of children with Down syndrome -- who've been fed a fifth of vodka -- and doing nothing to improve it, trotting out a bunch of jackasses masquerading as wide receivers ... I honestly would not be shocked if he asked for a trade after this season, because a few more years in Chicago and he'll be in Captain Pike's wheelchair.

It takes three clicks for me to ban you.

Just saying.

Threaten me all you like, but its not like your team exactly made the most out of the free agency free for all.

I think Timby was kidding about the banhammer.

Anyhow, the Kreutz situation is that much more frustrating considering the guy's healthy for the first time in a long time and a locker room leader...the latter alone has to be worth the stupid $500,000 difference that the team apparently wasn't willing to shell out. I could MAYBE understand this if the Bears had a plan to get a good replacement for him, but clearly they haven't done so and they won't be able to do so.

Who's starting the Jay Cutler liquid diet pool where we bet on which week he'll get squashed and knocked out for a game or more by the opposing team's defense ? I have week 6 when Ndamakong Suh comes to visit Chicago.

I realize that. Just stabbing a mod where it hurts.

Not like the Pats haven't swallowed 10' of meastwhistle in the playoffs lately.
