I think I've figured out what I don't like about the new Klingons. Some combination of the costume and the elongated cranium makes it look like their heads are much too big for their bodies. It almost makes them look cartoony.

The elongated skull certainly makes them look alien. Which even if it looks kinda weird is still a good thing. The makeup is certainly very detailed and impressive.

You mean the fact that they don't look like the same tired Klingons we've seen for years that were a weird combo of disco outfits and Kiss-derived heavy metal boots, and now look more alien? Yeah, I kind of like the new Klingons.

Klingons are Klingons and have gotten very overused and changed over the years, but all depends on what the actors do with it. My favorite set of aliens (and their actors) are the Cardissians from DS9 and the Andorians from ENT.

Cartoony is a good way of putting it. It's like they're a big ugly bug head in a spider's web.

Be careful, reasonable judgement is in low demand these days.

But yeah, I like the look of the Klingons a lot more in the trailer than I do in pictures. Meaning, they work better in moving media. Which tv is, so that helps.

Still looking a little sea monster-ish, but not fussed. I like the pointed ears, a la the Kelvin timeline Klingons (which had the BEST costuming ever, although the DSC guys are obviously dressed to impress rather than to kick in some intergalactic interlopers)
