NCIS franchise

I just looked up JAG on Wikipedia and it also crossed over with another show I've never heard of called First Monday.

Didn't know that, though I did watch all of JAG when it was on (and have it on dvd). There's a lot of familiar names in that First Monday, but I'd never heard of it.

It all started with JAG. Since then the universe is made out that, NCIS, NCIS LA, NCIS New Orleans, NCIS Hawaii, Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver (reboot) and Magnum PI (reboot).
Pretty big universe now.

I'm not really sure if they're going to want to work with him again if he behavior during his tenure on NCIS was as bad it was reportedly was during Bull.

yeah gotta agree he's a big fat nope.

Cote de Pablo has never said why she left NCIS but given weatherly's behaviour on bull I do wonder if he was a factor.

Also have to admit I never like the character and thought of him more as di nozzle than di nozzo.

I don't believe for a second that Michael Weatherly is even considered by Paramount+/CBS for anything.

Whatever happened behind/off camera at NCIS and Bull (see also Pauley Perette/Mark Harmon and obviously Eliza Dushku lawsuit payout) it was never fully revealed.
That all happened under the lead of a certain Leslie Roy Moonves, who was the CBS CEO until his termination following numerous allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault and abuse... And if you don't dislike that guy already, he hasn't had any love for Star Trek either.

Further DiNozzo's character hasn't aged well (see Barney HIMYM) and the whole Ziva/Tony story line kind of reached it's creative end points anyway.

Most importantly - keep in mind - Paramount+/CBS is doing this to keep their broadcast license or whatever down under.
These usually come with stipulations of having not only a certain percentage of acting talent from there, but also production staff and more.

Finally, there is plenty of acting talent from Australian, New Zealand and elsewhere that might like to have a steady multi year job at (close to) home.

I'm not ruling out a famous lead, guest star or crossovers from within the NCIS-verse though.

Not quite broadcast licence but related.

Back in 2017 they bought the 10 Network in Australia which has always been home to NCIS (though JAG was on the 7 Network) but has long been the also ran amongst the commercial networks

NCIS Sydney would kill two birds with one stone. Gives them new content in fairly successful franchise but would also help met their Australian content requirement (which are pretty have been pretty slack in the past - stick an Australian host on American clip show content and hey presto Australian content) but filmed in Australia with local talent in front and behind the camera won't be an issue.

I just started watching the Aussie show McCleod's Daughters over on Hulu, and I could see one of the lead actresses, Lisa Chappell, as the lead agent in Sydney. Now that I've looked her up, turns out she actually from New Zealand, though it looks like most of her work has been in Australia.

For de Pablo, it was about moving on to new things (she had played the character for eight years by that point). Also, when Weatherly left, there were photos of her watching the final Tony episode with Michael Weatherly. I doubt she would have done that if their working relationship had gone bad.

Tony started as the frat boy-ish character, slowly lost the ways to become a responsible adult (albeit one still prone to the occasional bullying), and finally becoming a parent who moved on to bigger life issues and responsibilities.

Plus JAG's sister show, First Monday, and NCIS: Los Angeles had a crossover with Scorpion.

It's generally felt by most (including Weatherly himself) that DiNozzo became a much better character in the third season onwards when they toned down the misogynistic side of him.

I would check out NCIS: Sydney. I watched NCIS pretty regularly for the first 12 seasons or so, but without Tony and Ziva, the show took a nosedive. Emily Wickersham did a nice job from what I saw of her, but I have no interest in watching now. I never could get into LA and I've only seen about 1/10th of New Orleans. Too many cast changes for me to get interested in it.

I enjoy NCIS for what it is……I also roll my eyes quite a bit. Most of what NCIS really does is NOT this. Also FWIW DIA as featured in NCIS:Hawaii does NOTHING LIKE THAT. Sorry. 30 years in and around the military and intelligence community…….no. It doesn’t work like that at all, but it entertains me most weeks.

The DIA has pretty much been dropped from that show already with the DIA character in the main cast having left that agency to join the FBI, where she's basically the liaison between the FBI's Hawaii Field Office and the NCIS Hawaii team, like Fornell used to be on regular NCIS.

Which is completely irrelevant to the point you were making, but I digress.

Ohhhh really? I am a couple of weeks behind.......last one I watched was where they were undercover at a restaurant.
