NCIS franchise

The phone text transcript in the NCIS episode tonight said April 3rd 2025, which was interesting. I wonder if they thought the season would airing different day

I wonder if Wilmer Valderrama plays shooter games on console, because his hand movements on that game controller looked like someone who had used one before, no random button presses like you’d see most actors do.

And from my eye it looked like he was mimicking the movements you’d use in a shooter game.

Or maybe the director of the episode was a gamer and gave direction lmao

If we're getting disposed pilot characters, is there room for Vivian Blackadder to turn up, though you'd be pushing it, Lively would have only been 20 in 1992, but then again Lombard would have only been 22, so not without precedent.

CBS posts this on April Fool's Day:

"This fall, there's no case too small."

They need to find someone who looked like David McCallum did in A Man called Uncle.

But Parker and Vance are twenty years older than the others!

(
;)
)

Gibbs is about ten years younger than Harmon. Maybe Parker is that much younger than the actor?

We know from the S19 episode Thick as Thieves that Parker was a teenager in the 1970s and that he's currently "in his sixties" (an actual quote from that episode) syncing his age and Gary Cole's more or less with maybe a year or so difference.

Episode 2.07, Friday, April 4
“Breathless” – The suspicious death of a U.S. Navy choir singer performing with a pop star draws NCIS: Sydney into the world of obsessive fans.
the actual episode plot was a vessel to tell (a major part of) the Blue backstory. This explains a lot of her behaviour in hindsight, not just this episodes multiple door locks, her looking anxiously around when out on the street.
In an earlier episode it was hinted she was wrestling with NCIS celebrating her (not real) birthday, that she doesn't know or for other reasons, when she hid her own surprise cake in the morgue room with the Doc.

Episode 2.08, Friday, April 11
“Blood Is Thicker Than Vodka” – The discovery of a sailor who has been drained of blood leads NCIS: Sydney into the world of modern-day vampires.

Didn't really like the Vodka/Blood story, even if it was a a rather Fangtastic episode ;)
Goth-Mackey and HairboyAd-JD were hilarous backstory jokes however
unfortunately no follow up to last week Blue going off the books (due to person reasons) - seemingly all is already well. Kinda hoped there would be consequences and a follow up of sorts.

Episode 2.09, Friday, April 18
“Mango Madness” – The team battles searing temperatures to investigate the death of a U.S. Marine corporal killed during a joint training exercise between U.S. and Australian troops.

Possibly the best episode of the season in this week's NCIS Sydney. The switch to Darwin has paid off handsomely.

That was a very good episode indeed. The case itself is interesting, the banter and talks....

Rosie: Can't mess up fishing
Blue: Yes I can... throwing the fishing rod in with it....

DeShawn: Don't worry Evie, you get killed by the Crocs before you drown (because she can't swim)
Evie: Actually the Crocs dead wrestle you prior...

JD & Mackey: seemingly not just a professional difference of opinion, but a case of jealousy?

Mackey: "So, a tropical paradise you can't swim (because of the saltys aka crocodiles and deadly jellyfish) - what the hell is this place?!"
JD: "survival of the fittest - it's Darwin after all" :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Evie and DeShawn trying to one up on how the Northern Territory will get you.

and I've noticed that Mackey has now recieved true blue Aussie treatment from J.D and she's now "Macka".

During his tenure on NCIS, we met all of Gibbs’ ex-wives, Jenny Shepard… In all those years I don’t recall any mention of NCIS: Origins‘ Lala, though she seems to have played a large role in Gibbs’ early years. I would think that a character that is very important to Gibbs’ development would have been woven into NCIS.
One could argue that since hearing Gibbs’ narration at the end of the very first NCIS: Origins episode — about finally telling “the story of her” — that Season 1’s raison d’être was to raise and fuel the question of why we’d never heard of Lala before. I am happy to report that this Monday’s incredibly powerful finale, at least in my mind, satisfyingly answers that question. (In fact,
Narrator Gibbs himself pretty much answers it.
)

With the news of NCIS: Origins introducing Lara Macy [in Monday’s finale], is there any early word on character introductions for Season 2? Like maybe the Fed 5?
As hinted above, you’re going to be processing a lot as Season 1 draws to a close. But be sure to stay alert, because
you will at the very least hear a very familiar name….

My question for NCIS: Tony & Ziva: Is it possible we could get more seasons in the future, or is it a standalone 10-episode series?
Showrunner John McNamara’s quote about being “excited to tell a single, serialized story of intrigue and espionage over 10 episodes” did have a whiff of “limited series,” but I am hearing that, in success, there absolutely could be additional seasons of the Paramount+ spinoff.

Any truth to the rumors that Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney will have 20 episodes?
Showrunner Morgan O’Neill would/could not reveal the exact episode count when he and I spoke the other day, but he did say they’ll be shooting through the middle of this year.

TVLINE | I must know, was the Darwin sweat on the actors real?
It was. If you imagine America reversed, north is south and south is north, that’s what Australia is. So, the northern part of Australia is super tropical, and when I was talking to my friends at the network, I said, “We should do an episode up in Darwin,” and they went, “Why would you go to Darwin?” I’m like, “Because it’s unlike any other place in the world.” It’s this weird frontier town, it’s beautiful, the color of the water is different, the color of the sky is different…. They’ve got more saltwater crocodiles than they do people! And it’s 40 degrees every day with 95% humidity. So yeah, the sweat is real.

TVLINE | Was your cast braced for it?
Look, we did our best to kind of prepare them, but I don’t think anything quite prepares you for that. It was a lot, but I always feel like anything that changes the mood of the set makes it all the way through to TV, and you could sort of feel it. You could feel the thickness of the atmosphere. You could feel the sweat.

TVLINE | Two-part question: What is Mackey thinking at the end there in the cab, and what is JD thinking there in the garage?
I promise you I’ll answer the question. I want to hear what you think, though.

TVLINE | I think Mackey is feeling personally stung in the moment, by the whole Etienne thing, so she’s not thinking about JD. But I think JD’s thinking about her.
That’s a really interesting response. I think you’re bang on. Throughout the first two seasons of the show, Mackey has played her emotional cards really close to her chest — and it turns out, for good reason, because she may well be a terrible judge of romantic partner, as it turns out, as far as Etienne. To rub salt into the wound, JD has been telling her, from the moment he met Etienne, that this guy is no good. The question that we should ask ourselves is, is he saying that from his professional police perspective, or is he saying that from a more personal perspective? Or is it a bit of both?

They have an awkward goodbye at the airport, and I think Mackey is driving back to her apartment wondering whether opening herself up emotionally was the right thing to do, or if it’s ever the right thing to do, or if she ever will again. And I think JD is going back to his mate’s garage thinking, “How the hell did I end up here, sleeping in a friend’s garage amongst the stuff that doesn’t fit in his house. What’s happened to my life?” And, “Is emotional connection something that I should be open to?” And if he is, is it Mackey, or is that the world’s worst idea? It’s a complicated moment.

TVLINE | At this early point, what all do you want to say about Blue’s situation, who she just found inside her flat?
Again, I love speaking to people after they’ve watched that final episode to get their thoughts on who the woman is who’s sitting in her living room, with all that hair….

TVLINE | My best guess is that Blue used to run with a shady hacker gang.
Interesting…. I like that. I can neither confirm nor deny, but I will promise you that your questions will be answered early on in Season 3 in a big way, in a really significant way.

TVLINE | Will you at least say it’s bigger than, “It’s her mother! Who she doesn’t get along with!”?
Yeah, it’s way bigger than that’s her mother she didn’t get along with. I promise you that. If you go back through Season 2 and concentrate on Blue’s character a little bit…

TVLINE | A lot of seeds were planted.
Yeah, a lot of little breadcrumbs dotted the way, and they kind of come to a head. In Episode 7 with Nova, we start to learn that Blue has some kind of profound understanding of this coercive controlled relationship between Nova and her father.

TVLINE | And she has all the locks on her door.
All the locks on the door. The fact that she doesn’t want to be photographed when she was going to the concert, the fact that she has no digital footprint, the fact that she asks Doc on the pier up in Darwin, when they get back to Sydney, whether he can take a look at some stuff for her in a professional way. There’s a lot of breadcrumbing when this happens, and obviously, this woman is, in some ways, the combination of all of those breadcrumbs. What happens next… I wish I could tell you, but it’s an absolute cracking episode early on in Season 3 where all those questions are answered.

TVLINE | Will Season 3 pick up continuous there in Blue’s apartment, or is it going to be, like, “Three Months Later”?
It’s later on, but not very much later on. It’s certainly not a continuous pickup like it was for Season 2.

TVLINE | Speaking of last season’s cliffhanger, is Rankin, like, 90% good guy at this point?
What do you think?

TVLINE | I think so.
Yeah. Look, he’s as much of a good guy as someone who works in the intelligence field can be. He’s instrumental in us cracking the case in the final episode, and we realized exactly why. Going all the way back to the [cold open], that sort of Apocalypse Now moment in Dilly, you understand exactly what’s happened to this guy and how he’s been leveraged into behaving like he has. So, if the question is, “Is he a friend or foe?,” I would suggest that he’s more of a friend. But he’s only a friend that you can trust so far.

TVLINE | Heading into Season 3, we are overdue for either DeShawn or Evie to have some sort of romantic interest, and I’m not saying necessarily with each other. Do you have any plans?
Here’s the thing: When two people really vibe with each other, as Evie and DeShawn clearly do, the one thing that will almost certainly cause something to flare up is to insert, let’s say, a third person into that dynamic, and see what happens as a result. So, without giving too much away, that relationship between Evie and DeShawn will be tested by the arrival of another character in Season 3 who will really set the cat amongst the pigeons.

TVLINE | Ooh, that’s a good one — “set the cat amongst the pigeons.” You also taught us this season, “Take a Captain Cook at” and “Have a lend with.”
We’re like Bluey. We’re trying to teach the world Australia.

TVLINE | Any last random tease for Season 3?
Anything I say is going to be a little bit too leading, but I promise you, from all the way down here, Season 3 is going to be way bigger than Season 2.

TVLINE | How many episodes are you doing?
I can’t tell you just yet — I think that’s under embargo — but certainly, in terms of the style of the episodes, it’s we’re swinging for the fences.

That was a fun season 2 of NCIS Sydney and a decent finale.

the Darwin location was - not literally - but a very cool setting. However it's not like the Sydney part is boring. I find all of them gorgeous and hope they not only get to explore the Australian continent further but also more of the Indo-Pacific and all it's cultures in future episodes.
Having one or two stories a season to take place in such places would be awesome.

There was a Croc-death-swirl/drown/bite(s) after all and DeShawan/Evie's "full circle" tasting Croc burgers was hilarious.

Rosie having the (unknown to him - million dollar or whatever) fish on the hook, having to pass his rod to Blue, only for her to give it the other guy and him winning was kinda predictable - but at least they somewhat weaved that in with Rosie/Blue's talks together and Blue's backstory - to be explored further in season 3. Hoping it's more in the way of family stuff rather than hacking collective or similar and that afterwards that Blue's exploring/past is done.

Not looking forward to triangles of any kind, romantic or otherwise or "a cat among pigeons". Reason being, I like the team and characters as is and would prefer getting to know them more, before any team additions or distractions.
Also the NCIS-verse is almost exclusively very annoying with "will they, won't they" potential intra-team romances. If the go down that route, for a change of pace I'd welcome it, if it was Mackey and JD, the two team leads, rather than two team members - as I don't remeber having had that on any prior NCIS-verse series.

As for season 3, simply hoping for more than 10 episodes and more of the same mostly entertaining episodes and team.

I doubt Sydney's ever going to have twenty episodes, but I wouldn't be too surprised if season 3 has thirteen to fifteen episodes. Even the other two shows are starting to skewer shorter. OG will only have twenty episodes this season, while Origins will only have eighteen.
