NCAA Football 2018

As if the big teams would schedule them for anything more than a single home game with no guarantee of reciprocity... if that. There's too much to lose and too little to gain for a traditional power to schedule them. And then when they can't get anybody to play them the big names shrug their shoulders and say "Oh well guess they're just not willing to play a tough schedule."

It only worked for ND because of history and even they've got one foot in the ACC now.

If that's the way teams want it then that's what you do. UCF isn't in a position to dictate. Win a lot of those games and they will get closer to it.

Garbage and rot.
NONE, I repeat NONE of the Power 5 will schedule them in any fair and equitable way (recently the Florida Reptiles "graciously" offered to schedule them to a 2 for 1 deal....yeah, ok) because they don't want to lose to them.
In addition, the polls AND the Playoff Committee consistently penalize the non-Power 5 teams simply because, with no metrics used other than perception. So the strength of schedule metric is fundamentally broken when LSU can have 3 (!) losses but still play in a New Year's Six bowl.
College Football is broken.

They are UCF. While you know full well that I hate Florida this is how it works. It does nothing for Florida to schedule this game so UCF has to sweeten the pot. The fact that UCF keeps backing out and acting as though they're BAMA when they're no more than a school with a soft non-p5 schedule speaks volumes.

will suddenly not be welcome to schedule any at all. Can't risk embarrassment to the mighty mighty brands.

UCF at least has a chance to prove themselves against LSU. Lose and everybody will say it proves they never deserved a shot. Win and... nobody's going to risk scheduling them.

They struggled with Memphis this year. No one is scared of them. They're no different from UAB who we all schedule, they just think they're somebody.

UCF won against Auburn last year and everyone said Auburn just wasn't invested in winning. No reason to think anybody will say anything different if they beat LSU.

Agreed. Just like the SEC is a "stronger" conference because they consistently play against higher ranked teams, yet the SEC teams are higher ranked because they play in the SEC... its a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I think going to the Sugar Bowl taught me that football is just better enjoyed in bars surrounded by fans than at the actual stadium. Though it was cool seeing the stadium and being able to see the entire play instead of just where the camera points.

Also the fans there had a weird attitude. Like when I was trying to get to my seat I asked the people in the row to move so I could get in and they gave me a weird look and said "Can I help you?" Then questioned whether I was being honest about having a seat in their row. I don't know if those were just weird individuals or if people from Georgia are just like that. (I was on the Georgia side of the stadium).

I have NEVER seen a play in any level of football where the setter accidentally downs the ball. That's a first. Georgia might have lost its argument it should have been picked over ND and Oklahoma.

Dear Alabama,

Fuck off.

Your pals,

The Clemson Tigers

:techman:

The meltdown has been ongoing and brought so much joy! In the past two weeks: BAMA and UGA humiliated on the gridiron. UGA whipped by nearly 50 points by UT in shooty hoops. Beat BAMA today in shooty hoops. Stole UGA's offensive coordinator out from under them leaving them with no option but to promote from within.

Oh and one you're familiar with -- Tee Martin came home! (He was introduced at the Bama game).

Tee's welcome is awesome: https://mobile.twitter.com/rockytopinsider/status/1086711716908535813

For those of us who graduated with Tee, it was something else!

Glad he’s ruining someone else’s offense now...

:scream:

Eh we had your HC's brother and your former QB coach Tyson Helton last season as OC and finished 121st out of 129 teams in total offense. I don't think Tee was your problem. However, we didn't hire him for OC.

He's going to be recruiting coordinator and either QB or WRs coach and he's hell on wheels when it comes to recruiting. I attended UT with Tee (he even opened the door to the library for me, gentleman that he was) so I'm super pumped.

No 2019 or 2020 NCAAF thread, so I'll put this here.

15 Division I games are cancelled or postponed today, Saturday November 14th because of, survey says.........COVID-19!!!

Larger and larger numbers of players and coaches are getting infected. And that doesn't even consider the "test" fans they've been letting into the games.
