College Football 2024

I really like NDs QB but I don’t think they have the roster to keep up with OSU. Texas had a roster but they’d been an ugly team all year long. I’m surprised they kept it as close as they did.
The irony has been with as much that has been made of OSU's NIL tally, Oregon and I think Texas spent even more

Championship game tonight.

I think this new format worked out pretty well. They might want to look at the 1-4 seeding, since none of those teams survived the process. But I think overall this has been good for college football.

I hate both Ohio State and Notre Dame, so I don’t care who wins. Hopefully it will be a good game.

Hell of a game. I was rooting for Notre Dame and when Ohio State was running away with it it was pretty disgusting, but the Irish fought back well and proved they belonged.

Overall I think this first year of the 12-team format has been very very successful.

NAtional Champions! Over a gauntlet of challengers, including a more than worthy Irish team!

We parted ways. The funny thing is that we may end up paying more for whoever we bring in but everyone was sick of the games being played. QB isn’t a position where you can pull stunts and get away with it. It just isn’t and despite his raw talent, Nico’s performance was mediocre (literally in the mid range of all QBs).

Nico’s dad has turned his kid into a National villain and laughingstock in the span of 48 hours. And UT cutting bait has taken away his leverage in negotiating with other schools. Both sides lost here but I think we will be fine. I also thin there was no choice but to cut him once he skipped practice. The only option then was to say goodbye.[/url]

Good for Tennessee.

This is what I love about our fanbase. When you’re out, you’re out. Even the companies rally behind this. We have a local athletic apparel company offering free nameplate replacements to anyone who brings an Iamaleava jersey in. Nico is not only out of the family, he never existed. This is Godfather level stuff.

It's looking like LSU WR Kyren Lacy took his own life. He caused a crash that killed a 78-year-old man and fled the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities. Was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run with death and reckless operation of a vehicle. A grand jury case was going to hear the evidence on Monday.

Saw his NFL dreams go up in a puff of smoke and couldn't handle it.

A shame. These kids with talent are never talked to about being adults and being held accountable for their actions.

I feel for both of them. :(

So it looks like Nico is going to wind up at UCLA with a pay cut and a first time OC. His dad visor is now trying to spin that it was about the offense saying it doesn’t put players in the NFL. Never mind the only 2 starters Heupel has had at UT sans Nico are in the NFL.

His dad thinks we’re so stupid that a pay cut and play caller that has never handled play calling duties = it was the offense. The same offense that led the country in 22 didll well in 23 and struggled in the passing game (Nico) in 24 while still producing an SEC offensive player of the year in RB Dylan Sampson.

Everyone walked away a loser here because y’all got greedy over mid performance.

I’m hoping we get someone good from the portal. They don’t have to give us elite play (Nico never did). If they can hit a few deep balls, not hold the ball for 8 seconds and hand the ball off to the RB he will beat what Nico gave us last year.

Looks like AD's are beginning to be pushed out of power by football GM's.

UT went through 20 years of a behind the scenes power struggle that culminated in Schiano Sunday, an interim AD in Phillip Fulmer and Pruitt’s firing for cause (cheating his balls off and doing it so badly we had to turn him in). This is skipping over a lot of football shenanigans and the absolute disaster in basketball (Pearl, Donnie Tyndall etc.)

We finally hired a golden boy AD after all that time spent fighting over the AD spot and now we have a college baseball championship, a football playoff appearance, and an elite 8 in the same calendar year. We are competing at the top in sports we were never good at and have the best AD in the nation right now (Nico stuff notwithstanding), especially given how far it’s come in literally every sport.

We don’t have a football GM and tbh, I don’t want one. That’s a power struggle waiting to happen. If you must have one, re name the position to NIL Advisor or something like that. GM sounds like the guy in charge and more chaos isn’t what college sports need right now.

So it's a trade... UCLA gets Nico we get Aguilar and extra $$$ to spend on some portal WRs. And to make the story wilder.... Nico's brother who had been committed to UCLA only to flip to Arkansas is now in the portal. No doubt he's going to UCLA. What is UCLA thinking?! Doubling down on a guy (big Nic) who has already screwed you once.
