NBA Playoffs

Great Grandpa's Cornflakes!

What the fuck was that?

Terrible. Just terrible.

The only silver lining is that the Lakers have games like this and are able to bounce back pretty well. They've won games on the road in every series so far.

They'd better get on top of their shit.

And the refs.....oh, hell. Never mind. The Lakers had the game to win. They had the ball, up by 3 with a few minutes to go, and just couldn't close the deal.

:scream:

Yay, Boston....!

They need to do the same thing, three more times, in the next couple of games...

Pierce and Garnett completely ineffective offensively, Gasol and Bynum combine for nearly 50 points, and Boston wins?

Go Ray! And Rajon!

Dear Baby Jesus,

Please bless Mommy, and Daddy, and Grandma, and little Scruffy.

Oh, and when the time comes, please set a special place for Derek Fisher.

Your Pal,

I had no idea Glen Davis and Nate Williams were referred to as "Shrek & Donkey". If they played like this more often, then the Celtics might be up 3-1.

Especially Nate, who looked better in the point guard position than Rondo, quite honestly. At least he makes floaters and layups, not to mention 3's, with consistency.

If Finley comes off the bench for 20 points next game, Jackson will poke himself in the eyeballs.

In a must win situation the Celts did what they had to do in game 4. Nice win by the C's, but not altogether unexpected.

Lakers' fans' biggest concern (and Celtics' fans too) right now should be Andrew Bynum's condition. If he can at least stay on the floor, I don't see the C's being able to win 3 in a row, so I see the Lakers winning either game 5 or game 6.

If the C's win game 5, which would mean 2 in a row, I see the Lakers able to win 2 must win games in a row at home also. That would be games 6 and 7, and that would make me smile.

We've already done what we had to do in Boston. I think we can win 6 & 7 at home (of course I'd rather not wait, but...)

And yes, Bynum is a concern. That guy has got to get healthy.

The kicker is that the Celtics have been a better road team than home team this season. Plus, they've already won one in LA.

Well....crap.

:scream:

These last two games....I don't know what to say. Artest is useless. Bynum is hurt and not getting anything done. Kobe is out there on an island by himself.

This does not bode well, I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong, the Lakers are perfectly capable of winning two at home. Still, Boston is looking deeper and more together.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

:techman:

Total domination. Sweet.

With a minute to go in the 3rd quarter, only 4 Celtics had scored. At all. Think about that....

Here's to Game 7. Should be another classic.

We had our last class for the summer term last night. The prof took the 15 or so of us out to a sports bar after the game and bought a round for us. This was in the Worcester, MA area so the place was packed with fans decked out in Celtic green. I got no dog in this fight, but It was to watch the collective sphincter of the people in the bar pucker as the game went on.

Dear Boston,

You had a 13-point advantage in the 3rd quarter against Kobe and the Lakers. How in the world do you screw THAT up?!

Incidentally (even with the Lakers winning), I contest that the game STILL would have been more enjoyable had the announcers not gone out of their way to be pro-Kobe/Los Angeles, regardless of whose homecourt it was.

Has anyone ever answered the retirement question immediately after a game? So rude, let them have their moment, I guess they just can't risk the miniscule possiblility that they might get "scooped" if they don't ask.

Wow. A strange series comes to a beautiful end.

PURPLE REIGN, BABY!

How about Kobe having a terrible night shooting, and the Lakers still win. And how about Kobe having 15 rebounds?

So many great plays at the end. Gasol laying it in with three Celtics draped over him. Ron Artest hitting that 3 pointer late. Derek Fisher as usual hitting a big 3.

The Celtics played a good series, and I think that if they had home court advantage, it might have been different. They are a really good team.

But on the other hand, since I hate the Celtics with the white hot passion of a thousand suns, and I'm totally wasted right now...FUCK THOSE GUYS!!!

;)

LAKERS, BABY!!!!!

Wow what a crazy Game 7. A true slugfest. Celtics played great D through 3 quarters... I was really impressed with the Lakers' resilience to fight themselves back into it. Ron Artest played really well. Kobe had a terrible offensive game but had something like a ludicrous 16 rebounds. He's a SG!!! That's crazy!

I'm listening to Phil Jackson talking post-game and he said Ron Artest was the MVP of this game, helped turn the tide.
