MLB Offseason - The Hotstove League

The annual trash-talking between Phillies and Mets has begun. The coolest thing is that, although this was a logical place for a rivalry, it wasn't one for most of their history (mostly because the Phillies weren't that good). Right now, it's competitive and heated (and besides, both teams seem to hate each other half the time). It's all in good fun, but it's among the best in baseball right now, imo.

Hopefully the Mets will live up to their expectations (and choke :p ).

Griffey to Seattle.

Hope the M's are able to ride that .235 average, 12 home runs, and 56 RBI all the way to the Series, baby!!!

Griffey will be better off on an AL team, where he can DH more often and not have to spend as much time out in the field.

And the Mets were gangbusters? They've usually gargled poo as well.

Griffey coming back to Seattle may not make much of a difference in the game lines or win/loss records. His impact is for the fans. We haven't been very excited about the Mariners lately - losing 101 games last year was horrible. The clubhouse hasn't been the same since Buhner and Edgar left. Now, with the greatest Mariner coming home to finish his career, people are excited again.

The team is probably not going to contend this year anyway, so they need something to keep the fans excited. And that's a good thing.

reports have come out today on wfan radio in new york that the guy a-rod was getting his steroids from in the dominican republic had also supplied illegal steroids to other major leagers including the red sox's big poppy!

^ I totally think Ortiz is or was on something. Look at the rapid jump in his numbers when he went from Minnesota to Boston.

I heard on Mike and Mike this morning that the Daily News is reporting that A-Rod's steroid supplying cousin, and a trainer who was banned from being on MLB permises, traveled around with him on the road as recently as 2007.

It keeps looking worse and worse for A-Rod, as journalists continue to poke holes in his story.

reports have come out today on wfan radio in new york that the guy a-rod was getting his steroids from in the dominican republic had also supplied illegal steroids to other major leagers including the red sox's big poppy!

The report did NOT say that the trainer provided steroids to Ortiz, it stated that a trainer who has been linked to steroids in the past worked with Arod during 2007. This trainer also worked with many other major leaguers, including Ortiz.

I am not gonna sit here and just randomly call out names about who might be on the shit, and who is clean. However, if someone looks at Ortiz's numbers jump, it can be contributed to more ABs, and most importantly, the Sox fixing a huge hole in his swing, that allowed him to pull those inside pitches for power, and hit many of his home runs. Ortiz was a mismanaged prospect for the Twins, and that is one reason for his number jump. To sit there and say, oh he is on the roids cause his numbers took a jump is wrong. Lets wait for the facts.

ha,ha,ha. your were really quick to rip a-rod,but when a story comes out about one of your red sox players using the stuff you are willing defend him . how come you didn't give a-rod the benefit of the doubt like you are with ortiz?? hmmmm?btw , the story being told here on wfan and espn radio says he "purchased" roids from that trainer! i would bet real money big poppy is one of the other 104 players who tested positive as well as alex.;)

there's an old expression that i think is applicable here" where there's smoke , there's fire!" tom servo, i want to see if you rip your sox player's when it come's out how many of them were on the roids . something tell's me you will defend them unlike the way you attacked a-rod.your boston alligience is showing!

while i think a-rod is a cheat and the steroid controversy taints any records he may set, i think he at least "manned up" and came clean and admitted his wrongdoing! unlike the other 104 cowards who tested positive and are willing to hide behind the unions policy of not releasing their names and let a-rod take all the heat!

When there is an SI.com story that says that David Ortiz took steroids, and there is proof, then I will rip him then, because that is cheating. However, I will not rip him because there was a story that he hung out with some trainer that was linked to Arod and the steroid story, and then make the deduction of, oh, he must have been on steroids too. In no way did I ever rip Arod, saying he was on roids UNTIL the SI.com story broke. At that point there was factual evidence that he did take steroids, test results, urine samples, and multiple sources saying he failed. I will provide Ortiz and the other players the same respect. It's not saying when there is smoke there is fire, its making a jump in order to slander a player when in fact NO factual evidence has been presented against him.

And please, saying A-Rod is taking all the heat, he brought it upon himself. If he came out and layed all the facts on the line in a convincing manner, people would say fine. However, his handling of this situation, and especially that press conference the other day was a sham. You can't even watch the damn conference with a straight face, it was laughable. I don't remember Pettitte getting as much shit as Arod is because when Pettitte said he was sorry, and knew it was wrong, you believed it, because Pettitte is that kind of guy. Arod on the other hand does not give off that same sincerity in the slightest.

What, you don't like facts? Because that is what I am basing my judgement off of, not some random speculation, which in all honesty is reaching at best. Is Robinson Cano on roids too, because he trained with the same guy.

It seems more to me that you are looking to slander a Red Sox player, when in fact no evidence has been released, in order to take some of the heat off the multiple Yankees that have been exposed over the last year and a half.

When factual evidence of Ortiz comes out, let me know, other then that we can focus back on the cheater that HAS been exposed using facts.

And, BTW, there was NO report saying he purchased steroids. NONE....ZERO. That is a complete and utter fabrication. Either you were mistaken or the report was wrong, because it's been two days now, and it has be mentioned nowhere else. If the 104 players list comes out and Ortiz is on it, thats another matter, but as of this moment, there is no evidence against him.

keep defending your players pal.it's easy to see where your coming from. btw ,im not slandering anybody. im simply repeating what is being said here in new york on wfan, espn and in the daily news! i guess your right and their all wrong, huh?get your head out of the sand. you will attack anybody wearing a yankee uniform , but when it's a one of your beloved red sox you defend them to the end. your nothing more than a" homer " for them!i find you very hipocrital!when the story came out about a-rod i was the first person here to condeme him! at least im honest. i didn't try and defend his actions.btw as a yankee fan this is what i think of the big poppy news!:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

^The code for quoting really isn't that difficult to use.

What really bothers me is that Arod gets off scot free while Selig makes an example of JC Romero. He takes a OTC supplement with no MLB-banned ingredients on the label, finds out later when the PA issues a notice that this supplement can test positive, and then gets slapped with a 50-game suspension. He should have checked with the hotline obviously, but he did talk to the team trainer and got a second opinion and was told it should be okay before it turned out that it wasn't.
