Lower Decks Final Season: What Do You Hope to See?

Part of me thinks it would be Lower Decks style if they somehow touched upon every Trek Finale in their own finale - some kind of plot where the Cerritos gang is dealing with an "All Good Things" temporal anomaly, a DS9 style "What we leave behind" sendoff, an "Endgame" style visitor from the future trying to correct something in their past/our present, and at the end of it have some kind of "These are the Voyages" gag that acknowledges fan frustration with that episode. They could make parts of it live action too. They could then end it like any other episode like TOS/TAS finales.

It would take a tremendous effort to pull off the above scenario in a way that is funny and honors what came before, and it would be very easy to make something that smells like targ dung. Then again, did the Lower Decks crew know the fifth season was going to be their last?

I get the impression that the only Trek finale they'll be echoing is Discovery's, as it'll be a regular season finale with perhaps a little extra at the end.

Hmmm... how to end LD...

Well, assuming they're still going by 6 months per season, it's a bit too soon to promote them to upper deckers, since they only made LTJG a year ago. Of course, unlike DS9, LD is kind of inconsistent about promotions. Sometimes they get them right: Tom Paris's rank of full Lt. made sense (he was a JG, but he could have been promoted upon Voyager's return, and if
Harry is canonically a Lt as well, that's about realistic, since he deserved (at least) a two-grade promotion to make up for Janeway screwing him over.
But remember, they also demoted two characters who had earned Ltjg status for no real reason. If that can happen, it can go the other way as well: if the Kelvin timeline can bump Kirk from ensign to captain, so can LD.

Given that it's LD, we should expect the unexpected, and understand that while the show pays loving homage to Trek, it plays by its own rules.

"Starbase 80?! Don't joke about that, man."
