You don’t want to see a two hour movie about James Kirk filing paperwork to legally change his middle name? Not everything needs an in-universe explanation. Some things are just retcons.
The better one was Sarek petitioning the Council for Vulcanians to be Vulcans. You don’t want to see a two hour movie about James Kirk filing paperwork to legally change his middle name?![]()
No. Time Travel operates in a specific way. As directly explained in Prodigy.Time travel operates at the needs of the plot and the whims of the writers. Creating rules are a fool's errand.
A bunch, and twice that has been confirmed on screen. How many times has Star Trek featured time travel? And how many times has it created an alternate timeline?
So if "time travel through a wormhole" always creates an alternate reality, what happened in Voyager's Eye of the Needle? And which reality is the alternate one? The one the Voyager crew are in, or the one the Romulan comes from? And he traveled through it twice, so does he get yet another alternate reality when he returns? No. Time Travel operates in a specific way. As directly explained in Prodigy.
The rules just differ depending on the method of time travel used.

Not exactly. The original plan was the supernova really did destroy the entire galaxy, with Spock, Nero and crew being the only survivors. Paramount overruled that as it would basically kill the the Prime Universe, with no possibility of new shows, movies, novels, comics, or video games being set there. As STO was already in development, that last was a particular sticking point. So, the supernova only destroyed Romulus but was a threat to the entire galaxy instead.JJ wanted 2009 to overwrite the Prime timeline, but others nixed that idea as it basically nerfed 45 years of history.
Even just Romulus being destroyed also changed STO plans, they originally wanted to do stuff on the planet from what I've heard.s STO was already in development, that last was a particular sticking point. So, the supernova only destroyed Romulus but was a threat to the entire galaxy instead.
Using Prodigy rules the two timeline's were linked by the wormhole the moment it formed, so the Prime Timeline would have been the one with Voyager in it and the new timeline would have been the one created from contact between Voyager and the Romulan. So if "time travel through a wormhole" always creates an alternate reality, what happened in Voyager's Eye of the Needle? And which reality is the alternate one? The one the Voyager crew are in, or the one the Romulan comes from? General reminder here that as far as we know the Prophets did not return Akorem Laan to Bajor's past via wormhole, they just plucked him out of the runabout and then plopped him back down on the planet in the past with no memory of his time in the future.Does Akorem Laan come to an alternate reality after his time travel via a specific wormhole, or do we suspend "the rules" thanks to interference from the Prophets? And if we do suspend the rules there, how can you say with certainty that there was no third-party interference in other wormhole cases as well?
The one where The Vindicator mentions the future she comes from exists within an alternate timeline?...What is the exact dialogue from Prodigy you are referencing? If nothing else, it'd be good for us all to be on the same page in regards to something we may not all remember.![]()
Why does Voyager get to be Prime?Using Prodigy rules the two timeline's were linked by the wormhole the moment it formed, so the Prime Timeline would have been the one with Voyager in it and the new timeline would have been the one created from contact between Voyager and the Romulan.
I don't know, you tell me. You keep talking about the rules, I would like to have them quoted. Please. The one where The Vindicator mentions the future she comes from exists within an alternate timeline?

I'm not happy until someone makes a reaction video to the reaction video. If someone makes an video with a thumbnail stating "THIS DOESN'T MATTER" in response to a bunch of people believing that it actually does matter, then they're clearly trying to inspire a reaction and I gave them one. Well technically it was you guys I gave the reaction to, I'm not actually clicking that video, but I think everyone should be happy that the thumbnail did its job.
Yes. And that reaction would be to watch the damn video. That’s what YouTube thumbnails are for. It’s absurd to expect the thumbnail to read something along the lines of “In my opinion canon doesn’t matter”, just so you wouldn’t dismiss its content without even having seen it.If someone makes an video with a thumbnail stating "THIS DOESN'T MATTER" in response to a bunch of people believing that it actually does matter, then they're clearly trying to inspire a reaction …
