I enjoyed it and John Glover is one of my favorite actors so above average.

Great episode. Nicole IS dead. If she weren't they wouldn't have had the line about there not being the possibility of a twin (which I laughed out loud at). A definite "She's dead, Jim" moment.

I would have liked a point of view shot as Nicole realized she was double-crossed. From the description given by Glover it definitely should have been realized visually.

So shed the pounds (I actually worry about Goren keeling over, clasping his left arm and heart), shed the angst, and get back to the type of L&O I like: one with very FEW lead character background stories. I like just a hint now and then. Otherwise it's just another cop show.

Yep. It seems the stories have emphasized the characters' personal lives a lot more since the move to USA. Which I guess is in keeping with the network "brand," "Characters Welcome." But I think Goren is a more interesting character as a quirky detective, a Columbo with high-function Asperger's, than as an angst-ridden, borderline-schizophrenic, renegade cop.

It wasn't the move to USA that bumped up the characterization, I think it was Warren Leight taking over the show. Remember what it was like a season or two ago, when episodes would begin with glorified music videos?

Leight even - and I haven't forgiven him for this - killed the text captions and Doink-Doink noise which are staples of the L&O 'verse. The nerve! :scream:

Yeah, I definitely wanted to see that. Would have been a nice bookend to all of the flashbacks.

I definitely miss the text captions and Doink-Doink noise. Alas...

Doink-Doink was what Logan was thinking in his last episode when Wheeler came in wearing the evening gown.

Hmm, I hadn't noticed that, but you're right, they are gone, aren't they?

Yeah, I dfefinately hope we can get back to solving cases next week. The drama really was getting to be too much. But man, if they wanted to write Goren out, this'd be the place to do it. That actually seemed more like a 'farewell episode' than the one Chris Noth got last week.

And man, Jeff Goldblume. I hope his character isn't as creepy as he looked in that teaser. :)

Ah, I hadn't realized it either. Guess watching old repeats five days a week threw me off.

Wonder if he's the same one who gave the ADA the boot?

I hadn't noticed that they were gone, but now - looking back - you're exactly right. Little places where they have cuts to other locations should have the little lext blurbs and the *doink doink* but they don't. I can't believe I never noticed.
