Broadcast vs production, does episode order matter?

Which episode order do you prefer?

  • Production Order

  • Broadcast Order (DVD & Blu-ray)

  • It's episodic, so I don't care.

**And in each of those two episodes, he's referenced by name in the same context - taking over command, for Spock in "Amok Time" and for Kirk in "Journey to Babel," but in both, the command switch never happens and Scotty never shows.
Two no shows? That’s a write up. One more and he’s fired!

Tough organization. We do 5 and then a write up. 3 write ups for the same thing gets you spaced...

I like to switch back and forth for Trek. I like airdate order for nostalgia, production order for series evolution, but usually cherry pick by mood.

I think someone else on here mentioned a Plex server, which I also use. I have the series sorted by production order, but have playlists for airdate and "favorites." And since they're all digital files, I restored credits and (approximate) first season theme music. Also in the process of putting the 1980's sound mix over the DVD video. If CBS/Paramount won't give me the version I want, I'll make it myself. :rommie:

Keep us posted on that!

As I said in another topic, I watched syndicated Trek up to at least 3x a day some years. Multiple networks who were in different spots in their syndication broadcast. So I never watched TOS in any kind of order and it didn't affect my comprehension in the least.

That is how Roddenberry wanted it, as I recall from various publications. An episodic TV show that could be watched in any order.
