Kyle XY Series Finale (Spoilers)

Anyone else watch the show? I loved it during the first season but started to drift away when teen relationship drama started to take over but still occasionally caught an episode. For some reason ABC Family just stopped advertising the show and it started getting low ratings.

The series finale just ended and the fans are mad as hell because of a big cliffhanger. The show ended with Kyle choking someone just revealed to be his brother to death. They didn't resolve the big love triangle either.

I used to watch this way back in the first season but stopped with the introduction of Jesse.

Saw the finale and...well....it was....well...not so great really. I was hoping for more, but I guess I should have expected this. As a previous poster said, they really let the whole teen romance thing take over the show. This show had so much potential. For quite awhile, it was, imo, everything that Smallville should be. I think, especially, when Kyle was training with "Ratboy" (Xfiles reference alert) it was really good. Then, they dropped the training aspect of the show and started making it more soapy.

My favorite episode: the one where most of the main characters (accept the adults) get trapped in an old labatory underground. VERY good episode. I think it showed that the writers could do much more than soap...

Anyway, lame finale. I even thought the revelation that that one guy was his brother was lame. Can't think of anything better?! " Oh, you won't kill me...I'm your brother! " Come to the Darkside Luke! lol.

Don't get me wrong: I do like the characters in Kyle (yes, even Jessie had her moments imo. They just wasted her on the soap opera stuff). I just think ABC Family or whoever decided the show needed to be more soapy made a big mistake. I wish some other channel would pick the show up and that the show would go back to being what it was orignally. lol.

I kept watching straight through even when things got all muddled mid-series. This season had really started to tick, IMHO, and things seemed to be pushing toward a climax and they simply ran out of time. One has to wonder if there aren't a few more episodes in the can that we might see in an eventual dvd release.

It really did cliffhang to an annoying level. Judging by what else is on ABC Family, I'd have to guess that the show was too long on plot and too short on teenage sex and debauchery to satisy their demographic. Nothing "family friendly" about ABC Family at all.

The phrase "what the hell" comes to mind. They knew that they had 10 episode order. They knew that the show wouldn't be picked up for another season. And we got this. Come on now. They could have made this episode much more terse, much more violent, and much more final. They could have had Jesse actually rip all of the blood out of Cassidy's body in a shower of gore. At least that would have given us a satisfying ending with some closure.

I gave up on the show halfway through the third season premiere. It devolved into a shit show, so I'm not surprised the finale was ridiculous.

.

Nope. The show got picked up for at least 13 episodes, but then the strike happened and only 10 were made.

The show became crap and even I ditched it. Kyle has a brother? Oh brother....

The strike isn't a valid excuse. They've had plenty of time to finish up the final three episodes.

I ditched after the first episode this season. As for Kyle having a brother, how is that even possible? There were two dealyboppers in the lab ... One had Kyle, the other had Jessie. Now it's suddenly a third?

Whatever. This show lost the magic it had after the first season. The introduction of Jessie and the "big mythology" of the show was just pure stupidity, plain and simple. Whether it's this "Latnok" or "Zizzixz" or whatever the hell it is this week, it was the wrong direction for the show, and it obviously pushed viewers away. I'm one of them.

Count me in as a "don't care" that the show's done.

Not if the contracts exprired. I think the season was meant to be 20 episodes and then be slipt in half, but the strike happened and ABC didn't care about the show.

Then they should have make new contracts. They should worked for free, paid for the equipment out of their own pockets, and given the episodes to ABC if they had to. There is such a thing as artistic integrity and it should trump blind profiteering.

And unicorns will fly across the sky....

I've been trying to avoid the spoilers in this thread, but I get a distinct sense of disappointment with Season 3 on the part of most people. A shame. I really loved Season 1 and most of Season 2 (although I could see the quality start to slip towards the end).

Anyway, I still want to see Season 3, even if it does supposedly kind of suck. What can I say, it hasn't disappointed me that badly yet.

However, Season 3 has yet to air in Canada, AFAIK, and I don't know if it will. The Space channel showed the first two seasons, but as I understand it, they won't be doing the same for the third, which really irks me. Do any of my fellow Canadian fans know if any network is going to air the final season up here?

The ending was a cliffhanger and many threads were left unresolved. They thought they had another season and then got the rug pulled out from under them.

If ABC Family wants to resolve the cliffhanger they'll put out a 4-hour Kyle XY Miniseries "Special Event" that wraps up the biggest plot dangles and give some since of resolution. (Especially if they do a 10-year Time Jump as an Epilogue.)

Did anyone besides me really really hate Amanda? Amanda was pretty much the Lana Lang of the show. Family neighbor, first crush, can't tell her the secret, Kyle has to save her all the time.

He could easily be lying to Kyle. He's trying to save his own life and is a murderer.

He only claims he and Kyle share the same mother. Since Kyle is a clone of Adam perhaps she is actually Adam's mother. We'll never know what they had in mind.

I hate her as well, and her mother. My family does as well.

Whoever said that ABC Family is not much of a family networks is right. Every time I hear "A new kind of family," I roll my eyes.

Agreed. That show that ABC Family has with the 15 year old pregnant girl and her boyfriend looks really out of place on the network.:wtf:
