Just Started SNW RE: Uhura

Getting rid of the Gorn would be like getting rid of the albatross on a ship. It can only benefit the show.
"The way I recall it, the albatross was the ships good luck. Until some fool went and shot it."
Getting rid of the albatross is the wrong thing to do. :)

Only if you kill the albatross. You're right to a degree, but my idea is more getting rid of the dead weight/bad luck, of the person, in this case the Gorn, with the albatross around their neck.

I wouldn't want them to just make them disappear, at least finish what ever story they have planned first.

Don't pull a Discovery.

Having just watched Slotherhouse, I now understand why some gorn are slow and others highly intelligent, superfast killing machines who like taking selfies with their victims.

They post them on Facebook all the time, like everyone else does with pictures of their dinner.

I just joined the group and just started SNW. I have a bit of a disappointment with the actor they picked for Uhura, she looks nothing like Nichelle. Spock looks believable at that age, but not her. No disrespect on her acting, but I just can't connect with her.

Wait until you get to Kirk. Lol ;)

Celia Rose is one of the brightest spots of the show. Give her a chance...

Sometimes not even the same gender!

On a related note, I never had a problem with making Robert April black, despite TAS clearly showing him as white. TAS is so ambiguous in its canonicity/continuity (i.e. people pick-and-choose parts of it that work for them and ignore what doesn't) that it's not a huge issue. I was more annoyed with making Kyle Asian rather than white British, because he was more of an established character in TOS despite not being in the forefront.

But the day that they make an established character a different gender? Then we're in nuBSG Starbuck territory. nuBSG never claimed to be in the same universe as TOS BSG, obviously, so the Kara Thrace example isn't problematic for that show. But making, say, Yeoman Rand a guy? Then the line starts to blur between 'reimagining/reboot' and 'it's all the same universe.' (This is assuming of course that the female Asian bridge crewmember Mitchell from SNW is not supposed to be Gary.)
