News Jack the Ripper Identity Possibly Confirmed After 130 Years

@Laura Cynthia Chambers , I believe this has been mentioned before, but please don’t start a thread with just a link to an article. Offer some opinion or commentary or something to get a discussion going. (And no, pointing out that you posted it in the forum you did is not sufficient.)

If you don’t have any comments to offer, and just want to post a link to something, then please do it in the Random Thoughts thread. I’ll let this thread stand this time, but if it happens again, I will be moving it to an already existing thread.

Thank you.

That wasn't him. The real JTR went into hiding for decades after the Whitechapel killings. He pretty much stayed off the radar until the early 1970's where he committed another famous crime and then disappeared into obscurity once again. He was a plane hijacker that time.

Oh, 'cause it sounded like the kind of thing you hear online.

I suppose it changes nothing in universe - identifying another person Redjac supposedly inhabited, that is.

I hate to use this phrase, but that would kill two birds with one stone. That would simultaneously solve both the ripper and D.B. Cooper cases. ;)

I have heard about this claim before. I've seen a number of documentaries about the ripper case. It's fascinating to see the theories that people come up with.

He settled down over the decades, received plastic surgery, moved to America, affixed his middle initial in front of his TV character's last name, and no one was ever the wiser. Only in the '70s.

FYI, you can check out History Channel's The UnXplained , the show hosted by Shatner. It did an episode about the Ripper.

You can also watch the Nimoy hosted show In Search Of... . It had an episode about the Ripper too.

Shatner's show is much more recent. I think you can see both on YouTube.
