Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull (Spoiler)

I didn't necessarily get that impression- since they didn't harm Indy, Marion, et. al though it's hard to know for sure without some additional exposition. I'm not even entirely sure what exactly they did to her at the end. I thought that maybe the aliens destroyed her for trying to steal their knowledge (either that or the information was simply too much for her body/brain to absorb). We're not even 100% sure what happened to her and whether or not she was swept along with the aliens when they left. Given that the female russian agent was portrayed as being evil/villainous and the aliens appeared to get upset at her and did.......something....to her after she activated the skulls, we MIGHT be able to presume that they are good (or at least non-evil)?
That was probably the most confusing part of that film to be honest and could be interpreted differently.

Here is a link to an FAQ for the movie on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367882/faq#.2.1.102

If you scroll down far enough, they kind of address this question.

I still don't get the ending. It looked like the alien intentionally killed her. But why?
She got what she asked for. It's not their problem that human brain can't hold that much information ...

I'd say they were about as evil as the ghosts who worked for God in Raiders.
More or less what I think.

The alien did give her a mean look at the end there. I think it can be interpreted two ways:

1) She wanted to know "everything". Everything consists of a lot. Given the visuals, the knowledge of everything burnt out her brain.

2) The alien telepathically read what she was planning to do with the knowledge and was none to happy about it, as it was mentioned how the aliens gave knowledge to humans as gifts. As a result, he killed her.

Or a combination of both.

It's just that the whole scene virtually goes "Oh oh" the moment they say "They want to give us a gift..." When I saw it the first time, it was like "yeah, gift means punishment, get the fuck out", and then she got killed. And you already said it, the alien did give her a rather mean look.

^ Maybe the alien was a US patriot and the mean look was when he learned she was one of those God-less Commies! :p

Anyone think the ending to "Crystal Skull" is about the same as the ending to "The Final Sacrafice."

Minus the guy catching on fire after being shot in the butt?

I assumed the aliens were peaceful and when he saw what she intended he killed her for it.

That was my reading, too. The alien said, "Oh, you want knowledge? Sure, you can have it---take everything at once!", kinda like cramming a ton of food down a starving person's throat 'til they choke.

I don't believe they were evil...what makes you ask the question?

Weren't the aliens intended to be evil (forcing ancient societies to worship them as gods against their wills and doing all manner of nasty stuff to them if they disobeyed) in the original story, then called Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods?

I think the idea was eventually scrapped for a more benevolent take on the aliens.

What we got were aliens that could be either, depending on how the individual viewer interprets them.

Personally, I think it would have been better if they kept the aliens evil.

They're not necessarily good or evil. They're just highly advanced beings who like to chill in the space between spaces, pawning off all the priceless loot they've stolen from all us bone skulls.
