If the Kelvinverse were a television show instead of a movie

Suppose that instead of a film, the 2009 movie's plot had played out in a television series. What narrative changes might have been made? (And don't just say "all the deleted scenes would have been kept in the film")

For starters, Spock and Kirk's childhood scenes would have been shown as flashbacks at various times in the series, rather than in a row.

We might have seen more moments from Starfleet Academy.

Interesting idea. I certainly would have liked to seen the Pike and Kirk relationship explored more. I really like the mentor and student relationship. And when I first watched into darkness and Kirk was demoted and Pike was reinstated as captain of the enterprise, I was hoping it was going be a permanent thing as Kirk’s character needed a hard humbling to his command style. Shame they killed Pike off so soon.

If it were a JJ Abrams TV show, then it would have been a mystery box series with plenty of questions and no pre-planned answers. ;)
More than likely. Lol

One thing I do believe JJ did well in the early episodes of Lost was some of the character heartbreaking moments that made you emphasise on a personal level.
And he transferred that into Star Trek 09 with the opening with George Kirk and his wife, Winona going into premature labor. Found that scene to maybe be the best scene of the reboot films. And that kinda of story telling and emotion would or could definitely work for me as a viewer.

I think it could have been interesting, especially as we get to know Kirk and his rebellious nature. I think seeing more of the mentorship with him and Pike would have been great and think it would have given more weight to Kirk's rescuing him.

A pair of Nero-centric episodes; one with his interaction with the Klingons, and another about his life in the 24th century prior to the supernova.

An episode with Captain Robau and the USS Kelvin crew, before the Narada incursion.

Academy focused episodes around Sulu, Chekov, Jaylah.

Scotty meeting Admiral Archer and the loss of the prized beagle.

Khan’s missions under Section 31 mission as John Harrison.

An episode showing the friendship of Pike and Admiral Marcus.

Carol Marcus’s short tenure on the Enterprise.

A whole flashback episode to the 22nd century with Edison commanding the Franklin.

Episode focused on the minor background characters (Darwin, Hendorff, Zahra, 0718, Olson, etc).

Gaila’s friendship with Uhura and romance with Kirk get more development. Maybe explore her family dynamics as well, and being an Orion in Starfleet.

I always said that Into Darkness would have completely worked as a tv series, where all of the huge moments, cliffhangers and changes in status quo would actually have time to be explored and weighty, instead of being reversed a couple scenes later. It would allow all of the obnoxious relationship stuff to work a bit better, would give the mysteries of the attack, and the Khan reveal, some actual gravitas. Not to mention Kirk's death and the magic blood. All of this works excellent in a typical JJ abrams tv show, but doesn't work at all compressed into a movie. Even the movie's opening, is like dropping us into the climax of the previous episode.

Strange New Worlds is pretty much what I'd imagined a 2009 movie as a series. Just with a far less charismatic Kirk.

Could have flashed back to the Kelvin disaster though season one, with everyone knowing it was heroic but drawing it out so you see George's sacrifice at the end.

I remember thinking Into Darkness would have been better as a TV series, to give the different threads room to breathe. I also think that stuff with Nibiru would have been better as a recurring thread, not like seeing the planet more, but the repercussions of that coming back to slap Kirk in the face, and learning from it, like actually having to send people to their death.

All this Kelvinverse obsessiveness detracts from the Kelvans IMO.
Two things:
1. The only Kelvans we've seen were in a single episode of TOS. You're in the wrong forum.
2. This is, however, the correct forum for Kelvinverse obsessiveness.

But you knew both of these things already, and are posting here only to draw attention to yourself. I see you.
I want to meet the Kelvin Kelvans, now
Okay, that is is something that could happen if the Kelvinverse were a TV show.

I honestly can't remember if the Romulans were ever even mentioned in the Kelvin movies, but by the timeline, and assuming the Romulans are on a similar course that they were in the prime timeline, they should soon be ready to be testing out their new energy plasma weapon on neutral zone outposts.
