FUTURAMA: Rebirth

So, how did you like it?

Come on, man. You said I claimed it was universally hated; I just said it was bad and used examples from the film. But enough....

You used inaccurate and distorted examples. Others pointed out your errors. It's as simple as that. You're entitled to your opinion about the film, but if you make factually inaccurate statements in a public forum, you should expect them to be corrected.
Well, I stand by my examples, but let's just agree to disagree at this point. We're off topic and I really don't want to fight with you anyway. :)

Well, to chip in my opinion...

I liked the last of the films best, it really fleshed things out. Then it served as a good transition to Rebirth, which was a mindfuck episode. Then the second episode was okay but not great. You can tell everyone is out of practice, if its going to get better, stay the same, or get worse, we'll be able to tell in the next two or three episodes.

Incidentally, this will kill all the animals.

I didn't enjoy "Attack of the Killer App" much. Too much grossout "humor," which is just the sort of thing I feared would happen with the show on Comedy Central now. It's not funny to be disgusted.

Also, I don't care for the episodes where the technology or social mores of the 31st century are portrayed as being analogous to our own or just slightly different. A story about two characters competing for Twitter subscribers and being willing to humiliate a loved one for it seems more like a Simpsons plot. It doesn't have enough of a futuristic twist. Mom's Twitworm zombie virus was an attempt at one, but it was too incidental.

It's funny to be digusted sometimes. But I expect more cleverness from Futurama. Susan the boil was terrible. It was also a year old pop culture reference that's past tired. Really drug the episode down a lot.

I was never a fan of Mom, either (Mr Burns meshed with Agnes Skinner). Though her scheme was pretty meaningless. I mean, she already holds a few monopolies apparently, she doesn't need to directly brainwash people. Or maybe that was the point.

I got the same Simpson's vibe too... and not in a good way.

The blue aliens at the beginning and the horrible boil did'nt even have the right feel to them. They didn't even looked like they belonged in the Futurama universe.

It really depends on the execution. South Park's Mr. Hankey episodes have me simultaniously wretching and laughing hysterically. However, "Attack of the Killer App." just had me wretching.

It was a nice parody of twittering nonsense, but I could have lived without the gross-out goat. And I find it hard to believe that we wouldn't have seen that boil before now. :rommie:

Yeah, it was an okay Twitter parody, but that doesn't make for a good Futurama episode. I've seen a couple of other reviews saying the same thing I did, that it felt more like a Simpsons plot. It's just too dated.

^^ Definitely not the best they've ever done. But enough to get us by until next week. :D

Might have something to do with the fact that the episode was most likely a year old when they wrote it.

Uhh...:wtf::confused:

Leaving aside that syntactical conundrum, I didn't mean it's dated now, I mean it's the sort of thing that will rapidly become dated. It's too much a commentary on immediate, current trends, lacking the timelessness and broader relevance that a good Futurama parody should have.

I agree, I'm just saying they are trying to be like South Park with a current eent but that event was already come and gone because it takes so long for Futurama to get made.
