For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

I have a hard time seeing them skipping over Obama
Optics wise, it's not great, but without the Bush era, do you get the Change drive that got us Obama? Plus there's only 3 Trek series in this timeline, so Jeri Ryan's casting can't (allegedly) lead to Obama being the Democratic nom.

Only just got Apple Tv and have stormed through this - very compelling and enjoyable. I must admit to having a slightly hard time imagining NASA still being reliant on the pensioners who went to the moon in the 60s but can suspend my disbelief just enough. I've liked the blending of human stories with space and geopolitics, and the building of the parallel world has been entertaining. RDM really is a good TV writer.

I don't have Apple TV and was looking forward to buying season four on Blu-Ray to go with the first three seasons. For the longest time it was advertised on Amazon.co.uk as coming out this month, then listings for seasons three & four of the show dropped off Amazon altogether and this is why:

For All Mankind‘s latest time jump will come with a couple growth spurts. The Apple TV+ alt-history drama has enlisted
The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Sean Kaufman to play an older version of Kelly Baldwin and Alexei Poletov’s son, Alex, our sister site Deadline reports. The character, who is named after his late father, was seen in Season 4 as an eight-year-old (portrayed by Ezrah Lin). Per tradition, the series jumped forward in time at the end of its last finale from 2003 to 2012.

Joining Kaufman as a series regular for the upcoming season are Ruby Cruz (Willow) as Lily Dale, the youngest daughter of Miles (Toby Kebbel) and Amanda Dale (Shannon Lucio), and Ines Asserson (Heirs of the Night) as A.J. Jarrett, a US Marine training for a space mission.

So Ed's gotta be dead by now, right?

Perhaps they will do something about how living in space slows ones aging or something. It's possible that when the season opens he will have not been on earth in many years. In fact I kind of like that idea for a story. He comes back to Earth after so long for story reasons and has to adjust to how the world has changed. Perhaps he is their to help his grandson who has also returned to go to college or some other reason and he to hasn't ever been on Earth.

Or they can take another page from the Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy and have scientists develop longevity treatments on Mars, which increases people's ages but eventually lead to mental decline, memory loss, and dementia.

I like the Aldrin/Baldwin comparison. Buzz is still with us now, so there's no reason we can't keep Ed until the final ever episode.

I presume that Season 7 is still planned to be the last? I guess that will take us up to roughly whatever year it'll air, so he can be the last man standing from the first episode.

At this stage I hope Ed never dies. Just jet him be there forever as a series long joke.

Or just have him play different Baldwins every season like Brent Spiner.

I could see him playing a AI if the show lasts at least two more years. If this next season is set in 2012 then the following season I guess might be set in 2022 or 2026. Basically the present day of the year that season comes out. Of course I would hope if they did another season after that then they would go into the future by 10 years or so. Maybe the series should end with Rosales dying of old age. With the message being that despite all the people who have come and gone from Baldwin to Rosales the future will continue to move forward in a positive way.

Jimmy Carter made it to 100 and he once went into a Canadian nuclear reactor that was damaged and needed repair while leaking out radioactive water. The team he was with trained for 90 second exposures which was underestimating the amount of exposure. I believe he was still showing radioactivity in his blood and urine months later.

What is weird is Baldwin and Krys Marshall are the only characters still around from season 1. I heard that Margo Madison won't be in this upcoming season. I suppose her and Ellen Wilson could both guest stars though.

I wonder if Obama is President in this timeline. Doubt it would be Clinton. I am guessing since BIll never got elected she is not famous in this timeline.

They could do that. Though I also kind of funny if she is married to Donald Trump and Bill is in prison. Trump and the Clinton's use to be friends back in the day. Also since Bill never became President the idea that his sexual misconduct might have landed in him prison makes sense. She is mayor off New York and Trump never got into politics and he is still doing "The Apprentice."
While they could easily repurpose these photos to switch the couples...

i really don't think it's "realisitic" to have that happen.

All the "advatages" Hilary had (being married to former president and being an active First Lady; potentially being the first woman president) would all be dissipated. And BOTH her presidential bids that ended in failure highlighted a lot of deficiencies she had as a candidate.

With the time frame, would we be able to have a full (2 term) Obama presidency for next season?

Barrett Carnahan has joined For All Mankind Season 5. The actor will recur on the Apple TV+ alt-history drama as
Marcus, a recent high school graduate living on Mars.

Carnahan joins fellow new cast members:
  • Sean Kaufman as an
older version of Kelly Baldwin and Alexei Poletov’s son, Alex
  • Ruby Cruz as
Lily Dale, the youngest daughter of Miles (Toby Kebbel) and Amanda Dale (Shannon Lucio)
  • Ines Asserson as
    A.J. Jarrett, a US Marine training for a space mission;
  • Tyler Labine as
    Fred, a Mars Peacekeeper;
  • Mireille Enos as
Celia Boyd, a member of the Peacekeeper Security Force on Mars
  • Costa Ronin as
Lenya, a Soviet politician and former cosmonaut.

Any rumors on when we can expect Season 5 to start airing on Apple TV+ ?

The season 4 finale was around mid-January 2024.
Considering it's around 14 to 15 months from finale to premiere of the next season in most seasons I would think using that as an estimate may work although it may wind up later.

Also looking at filming ending to premiere. S4 ended filming in January of 2023 and the S4 premiere was November of that year.

S5 starting filming in July and if they filmed for 5 to 6 months like S4. That would look more to a late 2025.
