Favorite DS9 'Goosebump' Moment?

The scene from "Doctor Bashir, I Presume?" where Bashir's mother rebukes his arguments against them, telling him how they had him genetically modified not because they were ashamed of him, but rather because they loved him and wanted him to have a better life. The actress who played his mother does a fantastic job, especially considering that this episode is literally her only acting credit.

The first goosebumps moment:

SISKO: I exist here. I don't know if you can understand. I see her like this every time I close my eyes. In the darkness, in the blink of an eye, I see her like this.
JENNIFER: None of your past experiences helped prepare you for this consequence.
SISKO: And I have never figured out how to live without her.

One of my favorite episodes.

Pretty much the whole episode worked for me, although I don't get why they needed someone to forge the holodeck program when the computer could do all the work.

Garak was amazing.

Ahhhhhh omg you guys reading this thread makes me want to watch all seven seasons again!

One that hasn't been mentioned is Siege of AR-558. There were actually a few moments for me in that one. Hearing Vic's recording over the battlefield was one. And seeing Quark care for and defend his injured nephew, Nog, really got me. Having Quark present was a great choice by the writers, really gave us a true civilian perspective.

But for me, the ultimate goosebump moment is the very last one, when the camera zooms out from Jake and Kira on the promenade. Ugh. Every. Time.

I know this sounds silly but I get goosebumps during "Invasiv Procedures" just before the fight breaks out in Ops and Kira decides to go after the girl, and the girl just beats her up and knocks her down. It's still kind of surprising that Kira could get her but kicked so easily

One that hasn't been mentioned is Siege of AR-558. There were actually a few moments for me in that one. Hearing Vic's recording over the battlefield was one. And seeing Quark care for and defend his injured nephew, Nog, really got me. Having Quark present was a great choice by the writers, really gave us a true civilian perspective.

Nog's scream, followed by the quick cut to a worried Quark, brings me to tears. (And to think, the Ferengi howl used to drive people to laughter.)

For me, it was sometimes more about a time period than an episode.

Like during the 'changeling scare' during the 4th season, before the war.

It was when anyone could be revealed to be a changeling.

When they did the promos for next week's episode it always left you with the feeling that it would happen. At one point a promo made me think Kassidy would be revealed to be a changeling, or replaced by one.

To me, they had more miles in that changeling scare than they used. But yes, it was good while it lasted!

Yes, I also thought there was more to come with that angle. It was that suspenseful.

At one point, around the time of For the Cause, I thought they were going to reveal that Kassidy, or someone close to him, was a changeling.

All the previous episodes kept leading up to this idea. It would have been messed up to do that, but you just never knew.

Everyone has mentioned great moments!

Another I was thinking of is Benny's speech in "Far Beyond the Stars"..."It's REAL!"

People say a lot of things about Brooks' acting, but IMO he did wonderful with that scene.

True, because you just never really saw raw scenes like that. There was The Outcast from TNG, but compare the two and you can see the difference.

I can live with it.

That entire episode was a classic.

And the ending where he says 'computer, erase that entire log', and the episode immediately fades to black, and then the closing credits.


Some more to add-- in For The Uniform, when Sisko orders the bio weapons to be launched on the Maquis colony.

He tells Worf once, Worf just looks at him and he tells him again "I said launch torpedoes!"

And then when Eddington is arguing with him over the view screen, he cuts him off and yells at Kira to "shut that that thing off!!!" Sisko looks totally nuts in that scene.

It was the first real time we got to see an actual fleet to fleet battle.

This reminds me of Way of the Warrior, when the whirling torpedo launchers extend out of the station and unleashed their fury. That was definitely a goosebump moment for me!

When Damar shot Ziyal and later when Dukat whined over her loss. Heavy stuff.

Another one I thought of is later in the same episode after Bashir reports that the Dominion fleet broke off the fight and Sisko orders the fleet to rendezvous at "Deep Space Nine" -- Jadzia's smile when he says that is awesome.

Perhaps not 'goosebumps' but there was a moment in Rocks & Shoals where the Vedek commits suicide.

"Evil must be opposed." And then she leaps to her death, hanging herself on the promenade.

I think it's the sudden change in tone that makes you sit up and pay attention.

There's also that moment where the mine field is being destroyed and the Defiant flies into the wormhole to take on the Dominion fleet by itself.

In Siege of AR-588, where the fight is going on and the music is playing, and Quark reactively fires at that gem'hadar bursting into the infirmary.

CALL TO ARMS

DAX: "We should rendezvous with the Federation task force in 48 hours."
BASHIR: "And then what?"
NOG: "And then we make the Dominion sorry they ever set foot in the Alpha Quadrant."
SISKO: "Cadet, you took the words right out of my mouth."


FAVOR THE BOLD

ROSS: Are you sure this is reliable?
SISKO: I've known the courier for five years. I trust him.
ROSS: Then we have a problem. According to this, the minefield's coming down in three days. The Ninth Fleet won't be here for at least four.
SISKO: Then I suggest we go without them.
ROSS: What about the Klingons?
SISKO: Looks like we go without them too. We've run out of time, Admiral.
ROSS: If those Dominion reinforcements come through the wormhole we'll have lost everything.
SISKO: We take the ships we have, fight our way to Deep Space Nine and destroy that anti-graviton emitter. It's our only hope.
ROSS: Do it!

Ross's last line gets me everytime

And the awesome music is playing, Sisko exhales, and then cue the biggest fleet of federation starships I'd ever seen.
