News Dahj And Soji Omega Necklace

Much as I loved this episode, it's a bit odd that both Picard and Narek take notice of this completely and utterly ordinary and common looking necklace, isn't it? I'm sure I've met a dozen people in my life who had on something basically identical…

I wondered about that myself.

The necklace is a Venn Diagram.

You'd think they could've came up with something more "unique" looking for everyone to marvel over instead of just two circles overlapping one another to have people in the Almost-25th century go, "Oh! That's VERY unique!"

Just cause it’s common in 2020 doesn’t mean that it’s common in the 24th century.

Considering the emphasis on the necklace, I’m sure there is more to it than just being a necklace.

Considering the whole of the staff of the Art Department for this show, they couldnt come up with something more than two simple interlocking rings? Infinity rings, as they are known in jewelry, are as common as could be. For close friends, sisters, or couples. Yeah, maybe they become rare for some strange reason in the 24th Cent. Or maybe put some friggin design work into the rings to make them more unique. Any number of ways to do that.

I think the very point here is that two characters who exhibit an odd interest in an everyday item are both heavily involved in the Big Plot. Picard has visions - this is just one of 'em "lightning bolts striking the ground". And Narek is obviously a shady spook who already knows what the necklace is and why it is there.

Nobody else thinks much of the jewelry. Jurati only comments on it when asked, possibly even a bit beduffled by Picard's odd insight at asking.

I suspect those necklaces are more then just symbols. My bet so far is that they are one or more of the following:

- keys to a door
- "key cards" to activate some type of machinery
- integral parts of some type of device
- special communicators to contact Maddox
- contain all of Data`s surriving positrons

I'm curious about what the importance of the necklaces Dahj and Soji are wearing . Since Dahj gave her necklace to Picard maybe they'll unlock it's secrets.

I can see the scene now:

Synth, this is the last gate.
Use your key now.
When the bell sounds again, use your key.
Good luck, Synth.
May you find Sanctuary.
