Spoilers Continuation of 25th Century Trek?

If they do a spin-off from Picard, I want:
  • Someone not white and male in an important role
  • LGBTQ+ representation
  • No space stations named for Trump-loving racists.
Otherwise Star Trek has taken a MASSIVE step backwards and chosen LCARS and fanwank over progressive values. Its Conservative Trek.

I consider the 25th century the real current time in Trek and would love a new series. I said this in another thread I would rather have a Legacy series talked about with Shaw, 7, Raffi, and the young ones than a Section 31 or Academy series.

I guess it all depends on viewership of Picard season 3, which they don't share.

A new Trek series can have all the progressive values and representation it wants, but I just want a live action Trek series with a new ship, new characters and a new setting that doesn't rely on the past and legacy characters as a crutch to boost itself up. We already got that with a series about Spock's sister and then a series about Pike and the TOS Enterprise. If the next live action series is about Riker's old ship, captained by someone with a connection to Picard (stealing Sisko's backstory), piloted by Geordi La Forge's daughter and with Seven of Nine as the first officer then it just reeks of small universe syndrome and a fear of a Trek series that stands on its own two feet.

Interesting. What's currently being crowed about with Picard Season 3?

what was the space station?

I'm confused. What about that post makes Andrew Probert a Trump-loving racist? I do not use Instagram so I cannot see comments.

An ongoing 25th century show would be fantastic. It wouldn't even need a stable cast - anyone from TNG, Picard, DS9 or Voyager could rotate in or out as required / available, plus factoring in original characters...

The apparent popularity of this season's Picard makes it more likely, IMO, that the next live-action streaming Trek event will take place in the 25th century. And why not? The TNG era is the version of Star Trek that most fans now grew up with and identify as their Trek (myself, I'm a TOS kid).

They've got SNW holding down the 23rd.

Did they give any hint on STD what era Michelle Yeoh's character was sent back to, by that off-label Guardian of Forever? Maybe she wound up in Picard's time. The whole Daystrom station with the Area 51 vibe in Picard might as well be the jumping off point for a mini or limited Section 31 series anchored by Yeoh, given that Kurtzman's still looking to do that.

The third Season of Picard must have had decent viewing figures as there is an article claiming Alex Kurtzman has been discussing the possibility of a movie with the Season 3 cast, and we know Patrick is already on board to do as much trek as he can before he presumably dies (forgive me Sir Mr Stewart). After Discovery was cancelled I don't think there is much faith in the Section 31 series and it hasn't even premiered yet. Ever since the late 80s the "current" era of trek was the 24th century and real life passing of time was the same in the Star Trek universe. For example, 1987 was 2364/5 and 2022 is 2400/1. Therefore the 25th Century is still the current era of trek and I for one would love a movie in the style of Season 3 but they would have to find a decent story to tell after the changeling fiasco has concluded. Maybe switch focus from Picard and the TNG cast to the new characters like Sydney and Shaw. Oh and that Bajoran Ensign he's cool! LLAP

I heard that all the sets for season 3 have already been destroyed. Don’t know that for 100% fact though.

They filmed in Cali. I'd expect nothing less, whether there's ever a 'sequel' series or not - transferring them all to the more probable filming location of Toronto would be more trouble than it's worth.

Yikes... I was able to write off Lorca's Musk comment as a mirror universe tell, but that's pretty egregious.

On the topic of racism and representation, it's funny to me how Burnham got all this Mary Sue save the universe grief when now, with the Picard's body deus ex machina after Q's "it was always you Picard", we're treated to the ne plus ultra white savior Mary Sue in the person of one Jean-Luc Picard.
