American Psycho II

Has anyone here seen it? It features William Shatner and Nick from Forever Knight with Mila Kunis as the star. Shatner is always fun to watch. The redhead girlfriend of the son on Odyssey 5 was in it too, but I have no clue what her name is.

It was one of those horrendously bad ideas from the start. Everything about it completely missed the point of the original, and it was something to fill in your "Forget Now" folder of your brain.

The literary character of Patrick Bateman, interestingly enough, has had quite an expansive life. He originated in Bret Easton Ellison's novel American Psycho and has re-appeared in several other novels since (his brother, Sean, was the main protaganist in The Rules of Attraction, played by James Van Der Beek in the film version; the producers asked Bale to cameo as Bateman in the film, but he declined). He was eventually killed off by Ellison in Lunar Park but I think that was more because Ellison had no idea what to do with him anymore as a character.

There is interesting potential to do an actual sequel to American Psycho and follow the character as played by Christian Bale. In the novels he ended up getting married and having children. I think it would probably be unnecessary, and end up similarly to Hannibal. Not to say that I wouldn't be interested in one, though, or that I dislike Hannibal as a film (I like it very much).

I personally think that Bateman works best in just the 1 movie and think any revisits to his character, in movie form would only take away from amazingness of the original.

I adore American Psycho, but after reading about this on Wiki I decided to go nowhere near it. Sounded total gash

Well, I went into the movie thinking it would be total shit. All I saw was the name Mila Kunis on the guide description, so seeing Shatner and the Forever Night guy was like a lifeline. The movie has none of the charm or humor of the first movie. It is best to just take it as a totally seperate movie not connected to the other at all.

The movie is trash. Judging from the brief making of segment on the DVD, it wasn't even a sequel to American Psycho until late in the movie's life (production footage shows a completely different title on the slate). I would wager the prologue featuring a Christian Bale-look-a-like as Bateman being killed (it happens right at the start, so I don't think it's a big spoiler) was shot very late in the game, if not sometime after the rest of principal photography.

I just watched it to see Shatner myself.

That happens pretty often with these direct-to-video flicks - at some point, someone decides that in order to sell better, they'll label it as a sequel to a more well-known movie.

This wouldn't surprise me. The death of the character felt much like the death of Poochie the dog in that Simpson's episode. Tacked on. Hastily.

I would think it'd piss off a lot of people who worked hard on an "original" movie (whether or not it's crap is another issue), then to have it retitled as a sequel to something it had absolutely nothing to do with (Havoc 2, Stir of Echoes 2). Amy Adams has "Cruel Intentions 2" on her resume which she never actually made, since it was actually a failed pilot for a Cruel Intentions prequel TV series.

I did not think i had seen this film till i read the plot on wiki.
I caught the end of the film a few weeks ago and never for one moment thought it was American psycho2 what a load of crap epically when you think how good the first film was.

Oh, absolutely. I think a sequel would be unnecessary, as I said, and I doubt Bale would even do it, even if the script was incredible. But I can dream.

IMDB says it was called The Girl Who Wouldn't Die. Since the full title of the movie is American Psycho 2: All-American Girl, it's possible the movie was called All-American Girl and they simply slapped on American Psycho 2 at the front, like what they did with Havoc 2: Normal Adolescent Behavior.
