Airwolf

Maybe they can take all the revivals of 80s shows and just combine them... have MacGyver, Magnum, Michael Knight, Stringfellow Hawk, T.J. Hooker, Crockett and Tubbs, Remington Steele, Hart to Hart, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Matlock, Simon and Simon, and the A-Team form their own justice league.

T.J. Hooker can slid on the hood of KITT.

The A-Team Van, Airwolf and KITT the three most awesome black vehicles

Yes! Bring back Archangel! That mysterious man in the nice white threads, and his bevvy of lady assistants, also all in white, and his white limo, white phone, white plane, white polo pony ! A class act all the way, Mr Alex Cord.

you forgot his cliche eye patch THE EYE PATCH! how could you forget the eye patch!
;)

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 80's revival but Knight Rider is squashing any chances.

I watched Scifi reruns and laugh at how each crooked businessman or sheriff HAD to flee in a chopper for AirWolf to be used. Also the sped up footage:lol:

yeah but it as the booze n drugs being consumed by JMV that played a major role in the shows demise - he was simply too unreliable.

I remember the episode wher JMV had his arm in a sling because the night before he got in a brawl with his wife.

I too loved that show. Especially the first season. Never care for the acting talent of Jean Bruce Scott. Bringing her in to be kidnapped every other week was monotonous. And towards the end CBS didnt care to spend any money. It was like old BSG..same ships getting blown up, same explosions, same shots reused ad infinitum. The editing was sorrowful. In the middle of dogfights the guns woudl retract..then be out..then be retracted again. And when they had the Airwolf vs Redwolf dogfight..they never even bothered putting out the guns on the ships. They just uses cheap flashes on the pods to show bullets firing...even though they had no ports for the bullets to come out of.

And then we had that dreck with Barry VanDyke as Sin Jin (?)Hawke and model ships. Not to mention Dick VanDyke playing a killer robot...I shit you not.

If they brought it back it would have a techo theme song variant and transform into a boat. But I would like to see some decent format maybe along the lines of The Unit. More realistic and a few covert missions...along with a crooked Sheriff tossed in.

I think a reboot of Airwolf would have a better shot of success on network TV over Bionic Woman or Knight Rider since it wouldn't heavily dip into sci-fi as much as the other two. Just make the helo have the combat capacity of an Apache disguised as a civilian executive helicopter. No super computers, no supersonic travel, and no pop-out guns like Andrew Probert tried to tell the original show runners not to do when he designed the bird.

Sounds like a mix between Airwolf and Blue Thunder.

Trouble is if you're going to arm a civillian helicopter then those weapons have to be hidden in some way--they just need to do it better than airwolf did. The guns I never had a huge problem with, but the missile ports seemed to fire every kind of missile imaginable...forget for a moment that most of them were bigger than the tubes, where the hell did they store em all?

Personally I'd keep the computers and even the supersonic travel too, there's no point building a show around a helicopter that's only marginally better than everything else.

You'd have to radically change the show's ethos too, this isn't the 80s and. much as I love the dogfights, you can't expect Airwolf to get into a fight with a Hughes 500 with machine guns strapped to it every week.

Things I'd keep- The theme, the notion that Airwolf isn't in the hands of the US government (although you'd have to change the reasoning behind Stringfellow doing so) The guns, computers, some missiles (Maybe have 3 or 4 mini sidewinder types--like the runabours mini photons--and a few air to ground rockets) I'd keep the Archangel character too. Aside from that I'd give whoever was creating it a blank slate.

I used to love Airwolf when I was younger, but when I've tried to watch episodes more recently I find it kinda dull with two exceptions...

1. The titles/music are and always will be super cool.
2. The dogfight at the end of the episode.

In fact there should just be titles...then a dogfight...then titles again.

Jan Michael Vincent wasn't a great lead but Borgnine was great, as was Alex Cord.

Yeah, that's how I kind of found it upon rewatching some of the episodes via Netflix recently. It wasn't all that entertaining except for the bits mentioned. Though I liked Vincent, too. Going back and watching just a couple of episodes was enough to satisfy my nostalgic interest.
