Actors from TOS who also appeared in TNG

I searched around and couldn't dig up anything on this. But I have to believe it has been discussed before... actors who were on TOS and made an appearance in TNG. Not just the prime actors, but the guests and extras. Is there any posting or page on the Internet somewhere? Memory Alpha would contain the information, as a comprehensive list of all actors from both series is there (no direct linkages), but I'm wondering if somebody already did the research and tied all this information together... :)

we could start a list anyway . . .
start off with the ones I can think of off the top of my head

Majel Barret-Roddenberry
DeForrest Kelley
James Doohan
Diana Muldaur

Don't forget Mark Lenard, who not only reprised his role of Serak, but even had a whole episode named after his character.

I remember that IMDB once had an item on their TOS or TNG trivia page saying that 23 (or some number) of actors had appeared in both TOS and TNG. A list was compiled on the Trek BBS to refute that "fact." Maybe someone saved it?

Don't know the name, but the guy who was the miner in "Mudd's Women" turned up years later as the station commander in "10101010," or whatever that dopey episode was called. At least it looked like him, which was odd because his nearly bald hair had gone gray or white and even with a beard he too much like Patrick Stewart. Malachi Throne, of course, turned up as a Romulan in "Unification."

Gene Dynarski, who was also in "The Mark of Gideon." And he wasn't the station commander, but an engineer who'd overseen the Enterprise-D's construction, Commander Quinteros.

Other TOS vets in the later shows include Joseph Ruskin (Galt from "Triskelion" and a Cardassian in DS9) and Jack Donner (Subcommander Tal and a Vulcan priest in ENT).

Kang, Kor, Koloth. Or was only DS9?

I don't remember the thread in question, but Majel Barrett's bio page at IMDb contains this:

Is one of only 32 actors or actresses to have starred in both the original Star Trek (1966) (up to and including Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)) and then in one of the spin-offs.
That's for any of the spin-off series, though, not just TNG.

The IMDb trivia page for TOS mentions that Malachi Throne, who voiced the part of the Keeper in "The Cage" and played Mendez in "The Menagerie", also appeared in "Unification, Part 2" playing Senator Pardek, so he's one to add to the list.

Wow... 32? That does seem like a lot. I'd love to see a matrix of actors that have appeared in at least two of the Star Trek series...

Considering that covers 700 episodes of all of the series, plus six movies, it's not really that many. If you narrowed it to actors who appeared in TOS/TOS movies and one specific later series, (TOS and VOY, say, or TOS and TNG) the number gets smaller in a hurry.

Michael Pitaki was the Klingon bothering Scotty in "The Trouble with Tribbles", and Karnas in "Too Short a Season" on TNG.

A partial list

There are now a lot more than the 32 that IMDB lists.....That count was always low and didn't count the TOS movies

So far, Ruskin is the only one to have "physically" appeared in every "incarnation" of Trek (excluding the new film which has not yet premeired). Note the quotation marks. He has appeared in episodes of TOS, DS9, VOY and ENT, and was in the TNG film, "Insurrection."

Wow, I didn't know that he was in ENT, too.
