A question about Vulcans

nacelle

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
As halloween is coming up, if i were to dress up as a Vulcan, I was wondering about Vulcan hairstyles.:vulcan:
I have a black wig which is about shoulder length and can cut the fringe straight across but are Vulcan hairstyles all short or are there some Vulcans that have longer hair?
A pic would be appreciated as it would be good if i can get the hair authentic.:bolian:
Also apart from the ears and eyebrows what else would be required to look like an authentic vulcan?

Length seems to vary. Males do see to all wear it at a fairly short length.

Color seems to tend toward black or at least darker colors.

Other than the hairstyle, eybrows and ears, you might want to give you skin a slightly greenish tinge if possible.

I dressed up as a Vulcan (But, I figured since Romulans and Vulcans were the same species they should both have ridgies, so I made a latex mask with ridgies) who happened to be a Starfleet Admiral during a Star Trek Convention in 1991 -- I was 17.

I had short hair at the time and I just slicked it back...

go for it! got the ears already? have to have those else you're just a person in a wig. lol. but yea, their hairstyles vary. it is logical to have some fashion sense if you are going to relate to other cultures who value it. :D

Preferably tanned complexion. And not shiny.
Longer Vulcan hairstyles can be seen in S4 of Enterprise, ep 408-409.
If you want to look like a Syrrannite.

You could also go for the mirror universe Vulcan look. (Human-like long hair for women, goatee for men.)

How about a stick up your behind. That would give you the Vulcan attitude. (Spock excluded)

I have a vague memory of the first leutenant Saavik from a trek film having longer hair but i can't remember which film it was.
I have ears but need some spirit gum to stick them on with, also im trying to figure out how get my eyebrows in the right shape without shaving half of them off!!!

Saavik is in The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Spock (and The Voyage Home), played by 2 different actresses (Kirstie Alley and Robin Curtis). They had longer than shoulder-length curly hair.

Better photos of Kirstie Alley as Saavik are easily found with a Google image search with those 3 key words. Here are two of many. She even has little earrings!

*I hope this isn't hotlinking, it didn't look like private pages.*

Perhaps you can solve the eyebrow problem by hiding them with hair, nacelle.

Kim Cattrall's Vulcan, Lt Valeris, in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, had jaw-length straight hair.

This ^ is from a very interesting site about fantasy makeups.

Here's the main Vulcan makeup page:

And this is the best: Spock's T'Pring from the 1960's

^ I'm afraid that if it is not from webspace that is either yours, or that explicitly permits inline image linking, then it still is hotlinking. If you set up an account at http://www.photobucket.com then you can host your images there and avoid problems in future. :)

In ST Final Frontier, there was Sybok, who even had a beard.

And Tuvok's Vulcan Master, from "Gravity".

But you know what? It's your costume, do anything you like!

Thanks for the links ria75. Lt Valaris is perfect. My wig is similar to her hair although it is a bit longer.
T'Pring is a bit too extravagant. I wouldn't have a clue where to start with that one!
