How dost thou rate the Doctor's adventure?

I paused that scene, and it looks to me like as the spacesuit raises it's visor, you can see a glimpse of
what looks to me like a Silent's nose. Plus, it shoots one of those hand-bolts at him, so that's two for that theory. Maybe the Doctor arranged for it to meet him in the spacesuit so the others would remember what happened.

Or Regenerating Little Girl may have Silent Powers

Watched the second part last night, and really enjoyed it. There was a creepy kind of feeling with the Silence but it didn't seem to go overboard to scare everyone senseless so that was good. Really liked Delaware and wish we could see him again but I doubt it since this two parter seems to be over. Still, there might be a chance because it seems like the first ten minutes of the season is part of a bigger arc for the overall season, and after thinking about it for a while, I'm fine with that. I do hope in a lot of these episodes, we can have self contained episodes where there actually is a beginning, middle, and end instead of just being "Part of an arc". I think I saw someone say in Farscape there was no immediacy, but there was self contained episodes which addressed the overall arc either indirectly or just directly. I hope the same comes here because I do feel like after part one being set up, part two felt more like set up.

Did find the girl regenerating very interesting and have read the whole stuff about her being Amy's daughter. I've always been wanting to have a female timelord (A suggestion that got ridiculed here if I recall), or even a female Doctor and I wonder if we might get that. I also wonder if this girl could turn into the Doctor who does get shot to open the season.

Still, it's good for Doctor Who to be back, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this season develops. I can't give this episode the highest rating, but I liked it quite a bit.

Why would that be ridiculed?! The classic series already did that with Romana! She even regenerated.

Mr Awe

It was more of a female lead to play the Doctor. I guess there's a difference, but a female timelord would work too.

If the girl is #12, she is regenerating into #13 - the gender, apparent age, species etc. of which wasn't shown

As mentioned previously, it's all but obvious that the little girl is River prior to her current form. The Doctor's "final act" was to sacrifice himself so that his beloved wife could live, not only preserving the quirky timeline they have both lived, but also out of an act of pure love. His final act was one of her first encounters with him, just like her final act was his first encounter with her.

The regeneration is a one-time thing to cure her of whatever ailment it was that forced her to be inside that space suit to begin with.

Knowing what he was going to do, he decided to have one last fling around the universe. Which is what all the nonsense at the beginning of the first episode was all about. He wasn't saving anyone; he was just out having a good time because, unlike Ten, he knew this was really the end for him. (And it's very likely that a large portion of those 200 years were spent on a whirlwind romance with River, leading up to why she loves him so much 'in the past'. If he was going to sacrifice himself for her, might as well make it worthwhile, no?)

Of course, 200 years is a long time and he's a clever fellow. So he very likely came up with some plan to get around it so that he could sacrifice himself for River but still come out of it mostly unscathed. Hence the invitations which planted the seeds.

Or, as the short for that comedy festival suggests, he simply invited him because he already knew he did. But that answer is bleh.

Whoever is in the suit, by the end of episode 7 or by the end of the series, they have to reset it so 11 is not the last doctor. BUT, maybe it just resets itself. After all, the Doctor (starting with #2) can't seem to go 20 years without getting killed and having to regenerate. What happens if (907) Doctor gets killed and regenerates and never gets to 1103? Paradox! But by then, who cares (except some internet nerds who read and post on Dr. Who forums, you know, like us.

If this season is anything like your post, I might have a splitting headache by the time episode 6 comes around, and I mean that with all kinds of flattery. ;)

Well, she said she killed a great man.

She said she killed the best man she knew.

The Doctor: Octavian said you killed a man.River Song: Yes, I did.The Doctor: A good man.River Song: A very good man. The best man I've ever known. The Doctor: Who?
It could still be Rory who she kills.

I kinda doubt Rory is the best man she knew. I can't speak for the rest, though.

Something might happen later in the season that makes her call him that.

I'm really hoping it isn't Rory, though. He adds a fantastic dynamic to the group and it would be a shame to see him die.

Is it me or does the Doctor seem to be regenerating to younger forms? I don't know the ages of Eccleston, Tennant, or Smith. Just going by appearance.

^ I don't think that's intentional by any means. @Photoman 15 I believe the little girl is still in the suit and was in the suit and shot the Doctor. The reasons why will be revealed as the season progresses. I also believe that wasn't the first time she's regenerated due to the way she talked to the homeless man. She seemed like she already knew it was going to happen. I believe she's stuck.

Well I watched this again last night. I hate to say it, but I liked it less this time around. There are some interesting bits, some fun bits, some intriguing bits...but an awful lot of plot holes. Now it may be that they aren't plot holes and will be explained later (ho ho) but they feel like cluncking massive plot gorges at the moment.

And I get no sense of threat from the Silence at all, and the more you think about them the less sense they make as some ultra terrifying race. What do we see them do? Tie Amy to a bed, kidnap a small girl but keep her safe, oh and kill Joy (I never realised the potential for a gag there). In fact the more I think about it the more I wonder if Joy wasn't inserted just to make the Silence seem more dangerous...

I'm hoping by the end of the series I'll be looking back at this two parter and going
"wow!" but at the moment I'm not so sure.

^ I'm wondering if the Silence are supposed to be a misleading antagonist? set up for something down the road we don't know about yet? I didn't get any sense of threat from them either other than they're creepy, can manipulate minds to a degree and have electrical powers of some sort. I've watched both episodes twice now and have the same thought about them. I do like they're design though :)

Yeah, I agree. I think the person who tried to blow up the Tardis is someone else, be it Omega or any number of other potential Big Bads.

Ooh, meant to add, how could the girl have called Nixon and said the spaceman was going to eat her when she needed the space suit to make the call, so surely the spaceman would have eaten her already?
