30 Rock: From the Beginning

I have loved 30 Rock and Alec Baldwin's Jack Donaghy from it's very first episode, but (the scene with Jack doing Tracy's father) is absolutely my least favorite Jack Donaghy scene in the entire run of the show. Alec Baldwin is much better as Jack when he is not mugging and doing funny voices.

I just watched the episode where Tracy put on his dog's electric collar to force him to stay with his pregnant wife. Him crawling across the lawn being electrocuted was hilarious.

Thanks for the reminder. I haven't seen the first 2 years since they originally aired. I gotta go back and re-watch them.

30 Rock, Community, and Better Off Ted are my 3 favorite shows of the last decade. I've mostly watched them originally and, besides re-watching Ted an entire second time, I haven't tried to rent, own, or stream any of them. I gotta fix that.

So I just finished the 4th season, the last one available on Netflix.

The ending was so great!

Avery is pregnant. Kenneth is being reassigned to Los Angeles. Liz dumped Tony Blair for Matt Damon.

Season 6 is about to start and I can't get to Season 5! Damn you TV universe!!!

The best thing about this show, to me, is that they never tried to develop a Jack/Liz romance. It would have been a very obvious thing to try, and they never even attempted it. Good for them.

Alec Baldwin may be the most perfectly cast character since Frasier. He is a delight as Jack Donaghy. His little conservative rants are hilarious. Of course they had to give him a heart (I guess). His mom is great. His relationship with Kenneth is great too.

Speaking of Kenneth, well...he's just wonderful. Good ol' Georgia boy.

I always loved this line by Jack about Kenneth:

In five years we'll all either be working for him... or dead by his hand.
