Man I agree with pretty much everything you wrote!
(EDIT: Not sarcasm by the way, I genuinely would have written pretty much the same thing. I removed a lot of your post in the quote just for brevity)
Great minds, right? I remove stuff in quotes for the sake of brevity, too.

I had this for my desktop wallpaper for awhile. I even have a captioned version of it somewhere.

I'm including some cheats in my list:

Supergroup:

Writing (plot): Diane Duane, Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, David Mack, AC Crispin, Una McCormack, Keith RA DeCandido, Howard Weinstein, Greg Cox, Margaret Wander Bonanno
YES! Adapt the best of the novels! (none would be by Diane Carey)

They could have combined Generations and First Contact if they'd just adapted Federation into a movie. It had all the relevant characters, and Kirk didn't have a stupid death scene. The final part of that novel provides one hell of a terrific jumping off point for any new series set post-whatever the latest given date is in the Prime universe.

Writing (humour): John Ford
And lyricist. I hated How Much For Just the Planet? the first time I tried to read it. It made no sense.

But later I realized that it's really an operetta in prose form. So I imagined myself sitting in the audience in a theatre, watching everything play out on stage (also imagining costume, scenery, prop, and lighting changes, as I used to work backstage in musical theatre on several of these crews)... and that's what I needed to love this novel. I wish it had been properly adapted and performed.

My "supergroup" would include Julia Ecklar and Leslie Fish and any other well-known filk singers/writers. Both these women have written Star Trek fiction (both amateur and professional) for decades and they have a way-beyond-impressive repertoire of Star Trek and science-themed songs to their credit.
