Spoilers Would a live-action Lower Decks work?

We need the buzz cut.

Plus we need Sam's implant!
I can get one but not the other

I can't figure out whether I never want to see Boimler's hair again...

...or whether I want to parade through downtown rocking that.

The thought of watching Starfleet officers flail and scream in live action as often as the LDS characters do would likely make me change the channel.

But 'filtered' into live action, sure. Let's see how they handle the balance on SNW.
I really don't like LD and the flailing and screaming, and sadly don't find it funny either.

So, perhaps surprisingly, I'd kind of like to see them try live action.
For a live-action LD show to work, it should be written in the vein of M*A*S*H. Basically, comedy laced with drama, where the story permits.
Yeah. But maybe drama and comedy in more even proportions.

My mirror neurons are cranked to eleven so I am definitely going to have to muscle through some of Boimler’s awkwardness (which hits differently outside of animation) but it is also reassuring to see Starfleet members that aren’t perfectly put-together. We have certainly seen throughout Trek’s history that people can make mistakes or make judgement calls that are rightly called into question but it seems more rare to see people who genuinely do competent, good work but just aren’t smooth while doing it. It’s an obvious side effect of watching beautiful people saying scripted words, I know, but it’s still nice to see that mirror-polished shine have a few realistic scuffs from time to time.

And that probably would be the case. Again, LD is not meant to be taken strictly literally as "this is what is happening in universe." It's absurd in some cases, in the way that comedy often is. But the drama carries weight too.

Yeah, but is the All-Seeing Koala meant to be taken literally?

Is Mariner going to be the "Oldest Ensign" in StarFleet or the one person who stays a "Ensign" the longest?

Tawny Newsome is 40 y/o, if that's the angle that we're going for, so be it.

Jack Quaid is 31 y/o so he seems closer to his characters age of 20 something ensign.

In modern Trek, 35 year old Ed Speelers is 22 year old Jack Crusher:lol:
