Spoilers Would a live-action Lower Decks work?

I don't know. I'd like to say yes, and @dswynne1 has a good idea with how it all might work as a M*A*S*H kind of setup. I think that's the only way it could work. Otherwise, it would be too "zany" for live action, something cartoons can get away with and still be taken seriously.

So, maybe? I'd give it a shot.

The thought of watching Starfleet officers flail and scream in live action as often as the LDS characters do would likely make me change the channel.

But 'filtered' into live action, sure. Let's see how they handle the balance on SNW.

To be honest, parts of it would totally work, parts of it would not. Character's such as Shax, T'ana and Migleemo would have to be recast, or altered their look on. Either that or we go full tracker CGI nightmare or call in the furry suit makers and tell them they have an unlimited budget (Nobody wants that, you think you might but no) as so much of their character is derived from their physicality.
Fursuit technology has come a long way since its awkward and informal beginnings, but it hasn't reached the level of complexity needed for either of them to be more than Easter eggs.

For a live-action LD show to work, it should be written in the vein of M*A*S*H. Basically, comedy laced with drama, where the story permits.

So The Orville? I actually found Season 2 of the Orville a nice mix of comedy and Drama. Season 3 leaned more on the Drama side, which isn't bad but the tonal shift of the show was noticeable.

There's no way a live-action version of LDS would work. It wouldn't be anywhere near as fast-paced enough to match what we see in the cartoon.

Holy ****!

I really hope we get Noel and Eugene too, although I would understand if, as voice artists, they don't want to don Orion skin and cyborg makeup. I'm absolutely stoked for live action Mariner and Boimler!

It's confirmed that only Mariner and Boimler are in the live action bits.

I hope it’s just Mariner complaining that everything is wrong. :)

“I’ve been on the New Jersey at the fleet museum. This is not what the inside of a Constitution class ship looks like…Boimler what did you do.”
