why Adult Swim? WHY?!

this reminds me of the early days, remember when they were all for anime & made a lot of ads to support it? I still remember the promos they had for Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, Big O, Samurai Champloo & all the bumpers- those that had the sillhouettes of the characters. Those were the good old days...What the hell happenned?

I imagine anime on television stopped attracting the number of viewers they needed to justify it.

no, it's just that the guys at [AS] have thier own programming ideas they want to run and anime is filling time slots

I just don't understand if Code Geass is pulling in enough ratings to beat even Bleach why they would exile it to the graveyard slot, it just doesn't even make sense not even from a business standpoint.

[AS]"Sorry Tim & Eric, you can't do that hilarious new show that you pitched of you two licking a dog's anus for 8 minutes each episode, but Code Geass is doing too well"

Tim & Eric (goes and sucks Ted's Dick)

[AS] (sets Code Geass off to die)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Code Geass and Moribito were brought in under the watch of the late Jennifer Davidson. When she died, so apparently did the support of those shows at Adult Swim...

embarassment of Tim & Eric

A broad, general statement:

Adult Swim is comedy. Everything else they put on both sucks and is unsuccessful, because Venture Brothers, Family Guy, or Tom at their worst are still all more interesting than any anime I've ever seen at its best. So it gets my thumbs up.

Not insulting anime fans, this is just my own personal tastes. I could care less and I don't see why Adult Swim is being evil for moving around or getting rid of shows that nobody watches anyway.

And Tim & Eric is intermittently funny and entertaining, something I can't say about plenty of TV comedies, and is only true of anime unintentionally.

For me, of course.

No doubt on that one, Tim an' Eric are embarrassing as hell. It is like two con men were able to con their way into a show on a network.

While I agree that Tim & Eric is definitely a cause for sudden brain death, most reports for Jennifer Davidson's passing simply list it as being the result of a "sudden illness."

Davidson was with Cartoon Network (and later Adult Swim) from the very beginning and had become the channel's senior vice president of programming and scheduling.

^ Could it be that CN is mad at Bandai for going to the Sci-Fi channel and letting them get first dibs on Gundam 00 and Gurren Lagann? Kinda makes me wonder although I thought CN was done with things like GL and Gundam.

After paying for the broadcast rights for Code Geass and Moributo that would be somewhat stupid on their part as they wouldn't recoup the rights cost with advertising. I doubt Bandi cares WHO buys the rights, as long as they pay the fee Bandi is asking.

CN is probably pusing Anime out because it probably costs way less to pickup the crap like Assy Mcgee; and the ad rates that they charge aren't that much different. CN may feel that Anime is worth a bidding war with Sci-Fi or other cable outlets that occassionally pickup an anime series for broadcast.

Anime seems to do fairly well on the toonami block, why not put some of the anime on the toonami block, Code Geass might work even if they have to block out a bit of anime boobage etc... I thought the afternoon Toonami spot did fairly well.

Toonami was the father of [AS] i remember when it originally started airing, they had Moltar running a "pirate" animation station, and it had stuff like robotech and voltron

maybe they bought Code Geass R2 b/c even though they could care less about supporting it, they dont want some other channel(like Sci-Fi) to get their hands on it.

Kinda like the rumor about how Disney wanted to buy the rights to make the Harry Potter theme park so they could sit on it & not have it compete with their own parks...

I don't even like a lot of anime, and I"m with you guys, death to Tim and Eric.

I remember when AS was running GI Joe every night, then they moved it to Toonami, and now it's not around. Thank God for YouTube.

Those early days of As were incredible. I wanted to watch all of it, now I'll usually watch through Venture Bros, and that's it.

AS debuted with Sealab 2021, the brak show, ATHF, and Space ghost for it's comedy side and Pilot Candidate, Yu Yu Hakusho, MS Gundam Stardust Memories, and Cowboy Bebop for it's action day, all very high quality, now look at what it airs *groan*

I loved that sealab where the captain turned the emergency beacon into a pirate radio station.

I don't know why, but I do have a soft spot for the Squidbillies.

ya know, not just [AS] but all of cartoon network owes it's growth to Anime, it started with Toonami, which showed excluseively Anime and it was thier biggest watched block, when CN was testing the waters for Adult Swim they did it by running Gundam Wing with only a few edits for boobies at Midnight and then an episode Dragon Ball Z and Space Ghost coast to coast.

Toonami hit it's peak when it was airing the big O, Outlaw Star and the 3 Tenchi Muyo series, it was even starting to air more more advanced anime, like the Blue Sub 6 miniseries, and [AS] was starting Wolf's Rain and Blue Gender, when all of a sudden Tom Goes To the Mayor comes on and it's Blue gender and WR that's blamed for Adult Swim's rateings drop, and all of a sudden CN pretty much starts drieing up thier anime selection, what [AS] did was start thier line up as the Brak Show and TGTTM, then Blue Gender and Wolf's Rain (both anime that really were niche genre shows) and people would turn OFF tom goes to the mayor and either get interested in a movie or something and not switch back, or were just turned off by BG and WR (I was, personally, Blue Gender is Emo, and WR was just strange)

So i think CN got scared off anime because of this and the [AS] staff wants to focus on more ideas by themselves, so they are trying to assasinate anime completely, Witch Hunter Robin and Blood + shortly after did well and they stuck it in the 5pm time slot, they Ran Milk Chan, Trigun and Full Metal Alchemist to the end and then dropped them and the only reason Shin-chan is still aired is because it has been re-dubbed by Tim & Eric
