When can I start to watch DS9?

Hello guys, i'm new in this forum.
I am in a journey, watching all Star Trek series. I finished TOS and I am in the ending of TNG 5th season.

When can I start to watch DS9? From wich episode of TNG can I watch DS9?

And the other question: is there an order to watch the sixth season of TNG (and seventh) with the first and second season of DS9?

I'm sorry for not being very clear.
Yes, I would like to watch in production order. But i wanna know if there's some chronological order to start watching DS9, because TNG's 6th and 7th season aired alongside season 1 and 2 of DS9, and I'm finishing TNG's 5th season.

The only relevant overlap is in TNG Birthright. After you've heard about Bajor and the Cardassians on TNG, you can jump over to DS9. A DS9 S3 episode references events from a TNG S6 episode and continues one character's arc.

If you go to Memory Alpha (here is the the entry for Emissary), there is an entry that says ___ of ___ released in all. This will take you to the next episode, regardless of series, to have aired.

It’s a good idea to watch DS9 all the way through in order. There are minor references right from S1 on.

DS9 should start right after Chain of Command part 2.
You can go back and forth from there, finishing of season 1 of DS9, then basically alternate for the following season.

Bajor, Cardassia and the Maquis are all major players in DS9 so ya once TNG has introduced them you are good to go.

Voyager does it's it' thing but ide probably get through most of DS9 and the TNG movies before I start it

Did you like season 3 of TNG? It's got a lot of the same people who would become the masters of DS9 and season 3 peppers a lot of scripts with a feel that DS9 would take and make its own as it moved forward, especially after Ira took full control, but he had input from DS9's start...

But I would also, before starting DS9, watch "Ensign Ro" and "Chain of Command" for some decent backstory development. "Emissary" is not a perfect episode but it's got the right themes and makes good use of Sisko and Quark. I'd be tempted from there to go right to "Duet". DS9 season 1 has a few gems, a few clunkers, and a few in between but "Duet" ties into the Cardassian backstory so beautifully and might help to hook you in as a fan instead of casual viewer. Then watch the rest of season one after those. (I watched in random order and from season 2 onward you definitely want to watch in order rather than the highlight episodes. But there's a reason or few why "Duet" is a good one to just skip to. Unless there's a good reason to go in order regardless.)
