Hi all

Ok so im on here today to ask you guys what the perfect episode perfect episode of any series to get my wife hooked in, although she currently has the notion that their boring even though she's never seen an episode, but I know my wife and if I do it right with the right episode she'll be hooked into the whole series the episode came out of and be way more open to other series :)

What she typically likes to watch: Criminal minds, any CSI series, any ncis series, modern family, castle, occasionally bobs burgers, and shows like tamar and braxton(I think it's called, those show that follow the lives of famous music artists and stuff.)
If you guys can help me I will be forever grateful
Thanks

Probably won't help you much with that list, Cm0002, but my wife, who is really not a fan to say the least, does like a spattering of TNG Data-centric episodes like "Hero Worship" and "The Offspring".

TNG: First Contact (episode, not the film) ?

The first few minutes take place entirely on an alien planet, and our crew doesn't make an appearance until well into the first act.

based on the themes of law and/or mystery/investigation, I`d suggest one of:

Measure of a Man(TNG)
The Drumhead(TNG)
The Defector(TNG)
Chain of Command(TNG)
In the Pale Moonlight(DS9)
Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges(DS9)

I'd think City on the Edge of Forever would be a really good introduction. It's kind of low on the technobabble, and there's a real human drama with Edith and her destiny. It's just an all around good episode and that would be my go to episode to introduce a non sci fi person to Trek.

I'd go with DS9's The Visitor.
During her uncontrollable sobbing at the end, you'll probably hear something like "I want to watch all of this franchise!"
Assuming you can hear her through your own uncontrollable sobbing.

DS9's "The Inner Light", an incredibly overrated episode.

TCOTEOF seems like a good pick to me, and Measure of a Man (extended version if you have it). From DS9 I would pick Duet, especially for a fan of crime drama.

I'd go with Q Who.

Based on taste in crime procedurals my guess is she'd take the most to TNG and Q Who is one of those episodes that really distills what TNG is about. Measure of A Man is also a good choice.

I will have to "third" COTEOF

It is a really accessible episode, well written, poignant and with a love story; that always helps.

For TOS, I'll fourth CEOTEOF. In addition, I'll throw in Amok Time, Balance of Terror, Journey to Babel, The Enterprise Incident, and The Trouble with Tribbles. The best part of TOS is that there's very little interconnection, unlike TNG or DS9, or the later seasons of Enterprise, so you can pick the TOS ones up at random.

For TNG, The Measure of a Man, The Best of Both Worlds, Yesterday's Enterprise, and The Inner Light seem perfect choices. This is just a small sampling that comes to mind at the moment. There's plenty of magical episodes in TNG to drag in pretty much anyone

For DS9, Duet, The Jem'Hadar, and I guess The Emissary as well would be something that I'd suggest. The problem with DS9 is that a lot of the stuff in the best episodes are interconnected so just hopping into them would spoil or even diminish its effect.

For VOY, Year of Hell, Latent Image, Timeless, and Life Line are surely the ones I'd suggest. Voyager, IMO, didn't have that many stellar episodes, but the ones I've listed here are probably the best the series had.

For ENT, In A Mirror Darkly, Demons/Terra Prime, The Forge/Awakening/Kir'Shara, and Carbon Creek. Like Voyager, Enterprise didn't have that many stellar episodes IMO, so these were obviously the best. Season 3 and 4 were generally the best, though. I'd recommend just watching those.

As for the movies, if you decide to also show those, the obvious is The Wrath of Khan, and its two subsequent movies. Th follow those three up, First Contact is also one.
