Honestly, I see no compelling need to see Lower Decks as live action at all. Yes, the SNW crossover was fun, and it was nice to see Mariner and Boimler in live action, but that's good enough for my liking.
And it’s a series ender and it’s a season ender, and it’s a love letter, and it’s a thank you to Star Trek and a thank you to fans [blah blah blah]
Maybe the ship needs to be sacrificed to save the day.
Dammit Boimler!!!!!
The final shot will be of Benny Russell drawing cartoons of the Lower Decks cast on the walls of his newly-repainted cell walls as the camera drifts over to end on a close-up of a snow globe.
Loads of Cerritos together would be good. Include a live action one, a TAS style one and one with a disheveled crew who have lost a war against the Pakleds.I feel like I'm a bit of an outlier in this thread in that a) I have no particular desire to see them in live action, and b) I don't really want the final episode to be a cameo-fest, and instead want to focus on our main cast. I just want Lower Decks to go out being... Lower Decks.
I'm hoping that episode 9 was their big cameo episode, and they don't feel the need to one-up it with episode 10.
One thing I had sort of thought about... the finale in the last season had all the California class ships coming together to handle the threat; I'm wondering if this season if maybe a bunch of different Cerritoses across the multiverse will somehow have to work together to save the multiverse?
(A quick visual gag where one of the Cerritoses has a live-action crew could actually work, so if they decide to do a live-action bit that way, I wouldn't object.)
I also wouldn't say no to a DSC-style flash-forward at the end to check in with the gang later in the timeline.
Shitload of cameos could still happen since it's a season finale to a season where the multiverse was a central arc. But yeah, there's no reason to expect live action. Unless there was a plan to briefly show a "live action verse" to really mess with canon-obsessed fans.Um, it’s going to be whatever they came up with before they knew the show was getting cancelled. Plus eight extra minutes of them shoehorning in something at the last minute to make it have some sort of proper ending. I’m not sure why people are thinking there’s going to be live action or shitloads of cameos.
Meaney would be in the "won't pick up the phone for Trek" category.I'm not going to multi-quote as so many, so many but:
- The argument that there weren't going to be cameos as this was a normal finale falls down if it's borne in mind that 5.9 was a normal episode and was replete with them. That being said, yes, it could be that the cameos were aggregated into there as 5.10 had something, or someone, bigger.
- Unless they can redress the sets from Disco or Academy, there ain't gonna be any more live action.
- There was mention elsewhere of a showrunner saying they were "getting someone who doesn't pick up the phone for Star Trek" for 5.10. Unless that was an error and in fact they were referring to Jolene, then there is still the potential for a bigger name. I can't find the second-hand quote now and the original source wasn't linked.
- If we are going to get Multverse O'Briens together, then could we have each of them all still being the CPO rank but each wearing the various different inconsistent insignia he wore throughout the Berman Era.
No, he wouldn’t.Meaney would be in the "won't pick up the phone for Trek" category.
