What is the furthest you have been from home?

if we will consider home to be the place you are currently living at.

The furthest away I have been from Hobart is Esperance, Western Australia which is about 2420km (as the crow flies - about 1500 miles) or 3623km by road.

If I ever make my dream trip to Iceland I will be 17,900 km from home (about 10,900miles)

Here is a distance calculator to help you work out your answers to my question.

Using that Website, my best guess is San Diego (by which I mean the southernmost Californian border, it's just easier to calculate from the city), at 5398.78 miles as the crow flies from my current residence.

In-country it would be LA, which is 2318mi/3730km. Internationally, Amsterdam edges out London at 3817mi/6143km.

Oh, and this is handy.

^ Talk about wasting a trip ;)

I can't help noticing a lot of people live a long way from California

Augusta, MAINE! MAINE, YOU MOTHERFUCKERS! It's a motherfucking STATE! Augusta, It's the capitol city of MAINE!

Augusta, Australia???

"Maine? What state is that in?" fucking yokels.

1,507 miles. Google. Learn it, love it.

It's just I'm sick to death of no one living here, no shops *I* like are here, no one knows where Maine is and when they do, they think we're all backwards inbreds with two teeth, one for bitin' the other for pickin'.

You watch the Weather channel and see a storm stretching clear into Maine and they'll say it stretches into the boston metro area. Helllooooo We're up heeeerrrrreeeeee......

I've never been more than a few hundred mies away from home. Never been outside the UK. Must remedy that, one day.

I think the furthest city I've been to would be Mumbai, India. That distance from my town is 8048 miles, or 12950 kilometers.

More frequently I travel to New Delhi, India. That distance is 7463 miles, or 12009 kilometers. I'll be making that trip again in January.

Well Maine was the first US state I was awake enough to appreciate, Boston airport notwithstanding. I spent 10 days there in 2001, I thought it was a beautiful state. And ironically I loved the range of shopping (hey, anywhere that has more than a Marks and Spencers and a Boots is impressive to an Englishman).

The southern town limit of Masterton, New Zealand. A mere 11,561.35 miles and at least 12 time zones away from where I currently consider home. :bolian:

Furthest from home I've been is Osaka Japan. 8000km away. Took 10 hours to fly there and 3 months to sail back.

9094... km. 5651 miles, according to the automatic calculator, between Paris and San Cristobal De Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. I loved it there.
