What is the furthest you have been from home?

There's a number of places it could be I did quick search and I believe it might be Thekkady, India which is 8603 from home. I'd love to go to the New Zealand and Australia region which would be even further but haven't made it there yet.

From Toronto to Tijuana, Mexico (hey, my father wanted to go while we were in L.A. visiting relatives, don't blame me :p):

Miles: 2186.73
Kilometers: 3519.11

I didn't know there were two Tijuanas in Mexico - and the site just listed them as "Tijuana" and "Tijuana #2". Fat lot of help that was.

Considering I emigrated with my family from the Netherlands to New Zealand 12 years ago, and I've been back 4 times since then, lets just round it to 12.000km or so lol. And I consider NZ to be my home country now, though I still hold a Dutch passport for ease of potential future travel through Europe.

In 1995, I went to D.C. It was badass, other than the smell....

oh, what was it like?! Mombasa?

The sand on the beach looked like sugar. White and very fine. The locals were a trip. They spoke clipped English.

"Step into my shop".

"OK"

<Walk 20' down the beach to some knick knacks spread out>

"How you like my shop?"

They didn't want currency. People traded t-shirts, ballcaps, and even the socks off their feet for whatever these guys had "for sale".

dirty socks?! eww!

it's interesting though. the visual you created. I'm glad you liked it. I would love to go there some day. I've been to S. Africa but I'd like to explore much more of the continent at leisure some day.

I live in Leeds, England. And according to that site the furthest distance I've been is to Orlando, Florida- 4245.04 miles

Seriously. I'm standing there asking the guy what he wants for his stuff and he tells me, "Give me your socks! I take those." So, I took the socks off of my feet

The world is an interesting place and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to see it between the ages of 18 and 22. It really opened my eyes and showed me that not everyone wants to live "the American way".

^^I guess the next question is, what did you get out of the deal that was worth a pair of used, unlaundered socks...?
