What is the furthest you have been from home?

Augusta, MAINE! MAINE, YOU MOTHERFUCKERS! It's a motherfucking STATE! Augusta, It's the capitol city of MAINE!

Augusta, Australia???

"Maine? What state is that in?" fucking yokels.

1,507 miles. Google. Learn it, love it.

Maine is my favorite state to visit. We try to go there once a year.

I live in Rhode Island, east coast of the US. This summer, I was in Hawaii, and then in the fall, went to Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest.

Munich is about 3900 miles from here
Honolulu is 5100 miles from here

and given all of the Maine talk at the moment, seems like a good time to mention that I grew up in mid-coast Maine :)

The furthest I have been from my (current) hometown is in fact Miss Chicken's hometown of Hobart (7900 miles). Technically I guess the furthest place is Abel's Bay about 50 km SW of Hobart. Second place is Baoshan (Yunnan, China) at 7375 miles, which took me a while to figure out as the stupid website lists 14 Baoshans with no other information (it was #11).

if we will consider home to be the place you are currently living at.

The furthest away I have been from Hobart is Esperance, Western Australia which is about 2420km (as the crow flies - about 1500 miles) or 3623km by road.

If I ever make my dream trip to Iceland I will be 17,900 km from home (about 10,900miles)

Here is a distance calculator to help you work out your answers to my question.

Distance calculator isn't necessary, I was as far away from home as possible when I visited Beijing, China over the course of a tour that ultimately took me completely around the world. You'd have to be an astronaut to beat my distance in miles ;).

Seatrek cruise to Alaska.
Furthest-most city from Albany, NY was Skagway (3,816 miles according to AAA's online triptik).

If you are in DC then you could have gone a lot further. China is in the northern hemispere along with the US. Australia is further......no rocket needed:)

San Francisco, CA...about 2583 miles (4156 km) from where I live. That was part of a flying trip to CA, but I have driven cross-country. I think the furthest I got on that trip was Sacramento, 2516 miles from here (which is further away than L.A., my coastal stop on that trip). I put about 7000 miles on my car on that vacation.

I think the farthest I've been from home is from Wenatchee, WA (that was my home at the time) to Perth, Western Australia which is apparently 9,334 miles or 15,021 kilometers according to that website. Oddly enough I don't think I felt all that out of place either time I traveled to Australia, so even though it was 'the other side of the world' it didn't feel that out of place.

My furthest would be from my home in San Francisco to Vienna Austria, which is 6000 miles.

5571 miles or 8966 km to Jerusalem from Ottawa.
Oh yes...I've been to Maine. More than once. I liked it. :)
